I had the pleasure of coordinating and photographing Maria and Tienne's wedding with their beautiful children. We had planned to do their wedding at Poolenalena beach but out of nowhere, it was raining so we relocated to Sugar Beach and lucked out with no rain. The talented wedding officiant, "Charles Nahale" blessed this wedding and family with his heartfelt ceremony and music.

I woke up yesterday and looked toward Haleakala Crater/ upcountry and saw a big black and gray cloud and knew it might be a rainy wedding day up in Kula for Keao and Amandas wedding.

The drive upcountry was misty with a light sprinkle and when I got 1/2 mile away from the location, I noticed a sign off to the right side of the road announcing I was getting close the wedding site. I whipped a U-turn and took a quick photo of the sign and preceded to the location. When I arrived, it wasn't raining but just before the ceremony we had a good downpour. The ceremony attendees witnessed the ceremony under umbrellas as the couple from Oahu became man and wife. Love doesn’t stop for the rain! I consider myself a lucky lady, doing what I love to support my family. I moved to Maui almost 21 years ago and decided to open my own photography business on Maui. Coming from a newspaper photography background, I started shooting for "Maui Surfer Girls" capturing their surf lessons. In the winter I rode backwards on a custom jet ski with my driver owner, of Maui Surfer Girls," Dustin Tester” capturing big wave surfing at world famous "Jaws" shooting 40-50ft waves taking shots of the only woman then surfing "Jaws" Maria Souza and Andrea Moller. Soon after I relized big waves was a winter only deal, I dove into taking family photos and intimate beach weddings. Through all the ups and downs to include "Covid", and the "Wild Fires" majorily effecting my business and income still to this day, I have survived and am still here working with repeat families, new clients and beautiful wedding clients like these two special people I met the other day. Thank you, "Dan and Leslie" for having me capture your intimate Maui wedding at "Makena Cove". It's amazing people like these two that keep me going and excited to call Maui my home.

A surprise wedding? I've done numerous surprise proposals but never a surprise wedding. The wedding coordinator contacted me about a surprise wedding and when she explained the plan, I was excited to be able to capture it.

Eric and Steven have been together for 10 plus years and so the chances of him saying " Yes" was pretty solid. It was disguised as a family photo session with their immediate family and the couples closest friends also came to Maui secretly to be apart of it. Kelly at A Perfect Paradise Weddings made arrangements for the guest to hide at one side of the beach near the flower circle and minister while I walked the guys and their family to pretend I was doing a family session. The musician and videographer were their when Eric popped the question and the guests walked down for to make the moment as special as it could be. Here's a few shots from their special day.

I was the photographer for this couple 10 years ago and had the honor of capturing their vow renewal this week. They now are blessed with two beautiful children. It was amazing to witness and capture their love for one another. I am truely blessed to be able to do what I love as a job.

On March 31, 2024, two unidentified males assaulted a pedestrian in a van near Sugar Beach in Kihei. The suspects are still at large, and the Maui Police Department is seeking any information regarding the two male suspects and the vehicle they used. The van is described as an older model with no side windows, featuring a faded blue pinstripe.

Composite sketches of the two suspects and a vehicle example photo have been depicted. We urge anyone with any information about the incident to contact Detective Oran Satterfield at (808) 244-6431 or email: [email protected].
