Waikele Christmas Lights (WCL) on Anapau Place in Waikele, Hawaii, is a fully computerized Christmas synchronized light show open to the public, free of charge, comprised of more than 6 miles of electrical wiring and over 100,000 lights all controlled by a computer that orchestrates the lights to “dance” to music. Most of the light fixtures are custom built to work specifically with unique hardwar

e and software that control the show and LED lights are used to significantly reduce power consumption. One of the neat things about this light show is that most of the homes that participate is powered by the sun as photovoltaic systems produce electricity during the day to power the light show at night. In 2015, WCL on Anapau Place in Waikele was featured on the reality competition TV show “The Great Christmas Light Fight” on ABC. In 2017, WCL received a Certificate of Recognition from the Council of the City and County of Honolulu and commended WCL for using its synchronized light show to raise funds for local charities. Donations are accepted and used to support a number of non-profit organizations, which over the years included the Next Step Shelter in Kaka’ako, the Hawaiian Humane Society, PATCH, Meals on Wheels, Make-A-Wish Hawaii, and Kahauiki Village. Visitors are very generous and appreciative of the Waikele Light show and WCL is glad to be able to share their generosity with others in our community to further help spread holiday cheer and joy. WCL has two different shows that run on alternating days from 7pm – 9:30pm seven days a week from November 25 thru January 6 (weather permitting) with each show comprised of twelve songs that lasts about 40 minutes before it repeats. If you stick around long enough, a few special songs might even make it snow in Waikele!

The Waikele Lights officially start tonight! The synchronized light show will be running nightly from 7-9:30 pm with 20 different songs to enjoy. Hope we see you soon!

The Waikele synchronized light show is coming back this year! After a two (2) year hiatus much work needs to be done inspecting the lights, testing the controllers, dusting off the decorations and trying to remember where everything goes. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding and we look forward to sharing the joyous Christmas spirit with you all. Mele Kalikimaka!
