Today, we celebrate the beauty and inclusivity of pans*xuality and honor all the incredible pan folks in Garrett County and beyond. Your identity matters, your love is valid, and your presence enriches our community. 🩷💛💙

🌈🎄Pride Social: Ugly Sweater Edition!🎄🌈
Join us December 11th (6-8pm) at The Alley for some festive fun!

✨ Rock your ugliest holiday sweater (the tackier, the better! Or just come as you are!) and get ready for a “Dollar Store” Gift Exchange with a twist: draw, pick or steal — it’s all in the game!

🎁 A number of wrapped presents will be ready to go at Pride Social! If you are able to, feel free to bring a wrapped gift (under $5 or even something handmade) and let the fun begin. We can also provide wrapping paper if needed. Can’t wait to see you there!

Today, we honor Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer heritage on Native American Heritage Day.

Two-Spirit folks were viewed as gifted and honored in their community because they carried two spirits with them, both male and female. They were often healers, medicine people, and visionaries within their given community. And they were foundational members of their culture.

Gender diverse folks have been a part of native culture for thousands of years. Their presence, history, and contributions were all but wiped out due to gender binary influence of colonialism.

Two-Spirit is an umbrella term referring to some Indigenous people who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Traditionally, Two-Spirit people were male, female, and sometimes inters*xed individuals who combined activities of both men and women with traits unique to their status as Two-Spirit people. In most tribes, they were considered neither men nor women; they occupied a distinct, alternative gender status.

Indigiqueer is a term that celebrates the s*xual and romantic orientation, gender identity, and expression of Indigenous people. It is a pan-Indigenous term that can be used by people from various Indigenous backgrounds.

Today, we observe Trans Day of Remembrance — a day to honor the memory of transgender individuals whose lives were tragically taken by acts of anti-trans violence.

We remember them. We say their names. And we reaffirm our commitment to standing with the transgender community today and every day.

Together, we strive for a future where everyone can live authentically and safely.

Did you know that LGBTQIA+ young people who experience bullying are three times more likely to attempt su***de than those who are not bullied?

As we kick off Anti-Bullying Awareness Week, Garrett County Pride stands with LGBTQIA+ youth, recognizing the urgent need to foster environments where everyone can live openly & authentically without fear. Together, we can build a community where bullying is no longer the norm.

Let’s commit to educating ourselves, speaking up, and taking action against bullying. This isn’t just a step toward change — it’s a step toward saving lives.

Bullying affects us all, and we all play a role in ending it. By fostering awareness and compassion, we can empower each other to speak up, stand up, and support one another.
