For Christians, today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, a season of prayer and penance and a time to become a better version of ourselves. Instead of giving something up like chocolate, cursing, alcohol, etc… what about turning that around and doing something to simplify your life and perhaps help those in need…. a declutter challenge where you commit to removing 40 bags worth of household clutter from your home within the next 40 days? You can donate items or trash/recycle them – it’s totally up to you based on what you have. Not Christian but like the idea of this decluttering idea? You don't have to be Christian to participate so go for it! Don’t have 40 bags worth of stuff to get rid of? That’s okay – how about getting rid of 40 items? Don’t have 40 items? Good for you! Get rid of whatever you can.

The Lenten season is actually longer than 40 days (Sundays don’t count) so if you need a day off here and there (it doesn’t have to be a Sunday), no worries! The whole idea behind this is to simplify your life, not add stress to it.
