What am I waiting for?
Everyone says the Golden Tilefish are there.
Here's my point of view
1) we've only had very small weather windows and deciding to run has not been a good bet.
2) Cold water means dogfish
Here's what's coming up
Consistent weather with 2 or 3 consecutive decent days in a row will stabilize the sea conditions. Temp breaks are moving closer. Reap the rewards of having a little patience.

Canyon Lady II is ready to run to the canyons for deep drop Golden Tile Fish. We have all the equipment needed. You just need your lunch. Upping our SP Jigging game. We now have SP rods for those really heavy Jigs. I've gone light
for years but there are days that you just need to bite the bullet.

Tilefish 2024. My 36th year of TileFishing the canyons for Tiles, Tuna, Mahi. The fifth year of the "I Have No Time" Canyon trip. Put together because friends wanted the Canyon experiance but 2 or 3 days wasn't in their schedule. This trip gives you the Full Big Water Experiance in 1 action Packed day. It has became our most popular trip. limiting out is the norm as is break PB's every trip.
Everything needed to fish supplied. Just need your food/ Drink. Use our electric reels or SPJig if you like. Yes we even have 2 speed manual reels if that's your thing.

I'm always asked, "What color Jigs do I use for deep drop Tilefish SP Jigging." I don't think color is as important as weight and style. I believe there are 2 important variables, Depth and current. We typically use jigs between 350-600 grams.
1) Weight is determined by how much is needed to get to the bottom and keeping line vertical.
2) Current lets you know what shape Jig you'll need.
3) The compromise is You want to use a shape that will give you the best "Flutter" or action but let you get to your strike zone or depth and stay relativly vertical.
4) Too much flutter, and the Jig will take off or be impossible to get down.
5) Not enough flutter and the Jigger needs to work the jig to "look alive".
6) Torpedo Jigd get down fast and deep but need to be worked to give them the action to entice a bite.
7) Jigs with flat sides or wide squatty shapes have the action built in and flutter side to side falling flat.
8) It's all trial and error. Bring a few styles in weights between 350 and 600g.

I've have quite a few singles and doubles calling about Open Boat Tile trips. I have an open boat text list that I use to fill the trips.
If you would like to participate in a Canyon Deep Drop Tile trip and don't have a full crew, my Open Boat Trips are the way to go. Text or Message me Name, Phone #,availability (weekend or week day).

Answers to most Questions:
I sail out of Wantagh, NY
"I Have No Time" trips are 1 full day so you dont need 2 or 3 days for a Canyon Tile Fish Trip. It helps keep you employed and the wife happy.
I leave at 2 am and typically return around 7pm on the same day.
Open Trips are limited to 5. This gets you, Individual attention, more time fishing with less tangles, more space and comfort.
If your new to this kind of fishing and don't have any equipment, I supply electric reels, 2 speed manual crank, or the latest Deep Drop SP Jigging setups. Try our stuff before you buy anything to see what suits you.
If you have your own equipment, Great! you can still switch around and try different methods.
Our customers usually limit out with the Legal Limit of 8 fish each
Our hand made rigs and Bait are included.
You can walk on the boat with your lunch and drinks and you'd be set.
All fish are kept by the customers.
Travel Time is 3 1/2 - 4 Hours each way to the grounds.
Round trip is over 200 miles
cost of open trip is $650.00 pp + Mates tip (20% recommended)

Seasons greeting, Merry Christmas , Happy Hanukah. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.
Thank you to all our customers, friends and suppliers that made 2023 the year that was saved.
After Canyon Lady was destroyed last December, there was no thought of a 2023 fishing season. That changed in June with me acquiring the Topaz. In half a season we completed 23 trips to our canyons. Many customers had PB's ,1st's and made spectacular memories. Thanks so much for being part of 2023 and making it possible

We had a great crew of Henry, James, Bill and Polanko on Wednesdays "I Have No Time" 1 day Bigeye chunking trip. Started chunking a 6am at the secret spot with 10 other boats. 4 flats later, NADA. I hope it's not over.The guys were falling asleep so of course I moved the 6 miles to my tile spot just for the direction the current was running. 3 hours, 25 fish.
2 personal bests and meat for the freezer.

The next few days around LI,NY will not be conducive to offshore fishing. Im inviting you to take a 23 minute "I Have No Time" 1 day canyon deep drop and mahi trip with CaptDaveP and mate Johnathan. Here's as good a chance to take a ride on Canyon Lady II without really being there. I wish it was a better trip but, that's fishing! This trip took more drops than usual to find the tiles, Tuna were no show, and I had to travel a few miles to find areas where the Mahi didn't dissapoint. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Offshore wreck fishing. Going the distance following the Fluke for their offshore migration.
Big fluke and seabass. As always, I supply top quality equipment, all rigs, and assortment of fresh bait. Boat has clean bathroom, hot/ cold water, fridge, microwave, A/C & heat. Be comfortable, catch fish, enjoy 1st class service! Most important, be Happy and come home with meat.

" I Have No Time". A 17 hour Canyon trip put together for people who don't have 2 or 3 days to fish. A trip that provides action and getting you home with meat. Maybe we get tuna, it simply depends on how much time is put into that portion of the trip. Tiles SP Jigging and Deep Dropping always pleases. It can also put a tuna or 2 in the boat that grabs a jig. Mahi mayhem puts smiles on everyone. "I Have No Time" means no wasted time waiting for a bite. I have a systematic approach to applying years of knowledge to find the fish , the action and bring home the meat. How successful are we? See the comments, Look at the smiles!

And here we go. It's all about to change. If you're interested in a 1 day, "I Have No Time" tuna, tile, Mahi trip, message or call direct. Openings available late September and October. 5 people max. Thanks to Raffi Sowi for fishing on Canyon Lady II with his East Coast Hooket friends and putting together another great video of this season's trip. We stopped at a 400'+ wreck and lost 2 really big wreck fish. As we moved off, the water seemed nervous so we started to put out a tuna spread. As we got the 2and bar out, the 1st hooked up. Not even a minute. Raffi, Steve S and Steve M have fished with me numerous times. 1st timer Daniel who has never fished offshore grabbed the rod and checked up his 1st tuna. We kept at it about another half hour but the troll action stopped. The tuna were on a huge deep bait pod and I wasn't going to waste time on our "I have no time "trip. We were off to the tile grounds. George D and Daniel never caught a tilefish. Raffi and Steve SP Jigged the entire time. Steve S switched up until he had success.
Final count was 1 yellowfin and 5 man limit of Golden and Blueline tiles. We were back at the dock by 6:30.

This was another fun trip with fellow East Coast Hookers at the Canyons with Capt Dave of the Canyon Lady 2. We trolled for some tuna and Jigged for Tilefish...
