What am I waiting for?
Everyone says the Golden Tilefish are there.
Here's my point of view
1) we've only had very small weather windows and deciding to run has not been a good bet.
2) Cold water means dogfish
Here's what's coming up
Consistent weather with 2 or 3 consecutive decent days in a row will stabilize the sea conditions. Temp breaks are moving closer. Reap the rewards of having a little patience.

Canyon Lady II is ready to run to the canyons for deep drop Golden Tile Fish. We have all the equipment needed. You just need your lunch. Guys on my open boat text list will be contacted about trips and availabe spots. The 1st guys to call back are in. If you'd like to be added to my list. Text name Number and week day or weekend. Upping our SP Jigging game. We now have SP rods for those really heavy Jigs. I've gone light
for years but there are days that you just need to bite the bullet.

Yes we still give you electrics or 2 speed manuals to use when you get tired.

Tilefish 2024. My 36th year of TileFishing the canyons for Tiles, Tuna, Mahi. The fifth year of the "I Have No Time" Canyon trip. Put together because friends wanted the Canyon experiance but 2 or 3 days wasn't in their schedule. This trip gives you the Full Big Water Experiance in 1 action Packed day. It has became our most popular trip. limiting out is the norm as is break PB's every trip.
Everything needed to fish supplied. Just need your food/ Drink. Use our electric reels or SPJig if you like. Yes we even have 2 speed manual reels if that's your thing.

I'm always asked, "What color Jigs do I use for deep drop Tilefish SP Jigging." I don't think color is as important as weight and style. I believe there are 2 important variables, Depth and current. We typically use jigs between 350-600 grams.
1) Weight is determined by how much is needed to get to the bottom and keeping line vertical.
2) Current lets you know what shape Jig you'll need.
3) The compromise is You want to use a shape that will give you the best "Flutter" or action but let you get to your strike zone or depth and stay relativly vertical.
4) Too much flutter, and the Jig will take off or be impossible to get down.
5) Not enough flutter and the Jigger needs to work the jig to "look alive".
6) Torpedo Jigd get down fast and deep but need to be worked to give them the action to entice a bite.
7) Jigs with flat sides or wide squatty shapes have the action built in and flutter side to side falling flat.
8) It's all trial and error. Bring a few styles in weights between 350 and 600g.
