Tonight, if you stay up and watch the ball drop in NYC, you'll notice that the 1st batch of confetti will all be green 🟢.
That's a tribute to my beloved friend Tommy DeLorenzo of Balloons by Tommy. We lost him far too soon, to complications from an infection after being declared cancer free at the age of 38 in October😢.
He had been involved with the confetti drop for a few years, arranged by fellow entertainer and balloon guru, Treb Heining. During Tommy's memorial, Treb promised to make the first confetti batch green for Tommy DeLorenzo. Tommy's husband Scott DeLorenzo will be up there - along with a bunch of friends - celebrating all that Tommy meant to others and ushering in the new year.
If you see the green confetti, will you send a thought or 2 his way? Send some love to his husband Scott too. In previous years Tommy had asked for our New Year's wishes that he would write on some of the confetti pieces before launch time. Imagine your New Year's wishes and resolutions raining down on New York, viewed by millions around the world, and manifest that beautiful chance at a fresh start, a new beginning, whatever you are hoping for in 2025. Tommy is on the left and the other handsome dude is his husband Scott.💚

I had the honor of joining forces with Balloons by Tommy and 50 other professional decorators from the US and Canada who dropped everything to support Tommy. This was something truly special for tonight’s Democratic National Convention. We built 72 balloon drops featuring over 100,000 balloons! ❤️🤍💙

This project was more than just about making a political event visually stunning—it was about coming together for my friend.
Tommy, the creative force behind Balloons by Tommy. He is bravely battling cancer and receiving his last chance at life by having a Stem Cell Transplant. When I learned about this opportunity to support him, I didn’t think twice. Politics didn’t matter; love, teamwork, and the bond of our balloon community did. 💚💚💚

Under Treb Henning’s expert guidance, the experience was a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can accomplish incredible things. I am so proud to have been a part of this project, but more than anything, grateful for the chance to stand by a friend, I even got a chance to visit him in the hospital. I can’t wait to watch the balloons drop tonight and see the culmination of everyone’s hard work come to life! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙 🇺🇸
