Did You Know? Women’s History Month started as Women’s History Week . . .

Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978. The organizers selected the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women’s Day. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week celebrations the following year.

I was a single mom for many years, I remember when my children were young and one my boys asked me, "why didn't Santa fill your stocking mommy" it broke my heart. Even worse is how do explain it to your child who you want to still have the belief of Christmas Santa Claus and all that comes with it. Unfortunately this is what happens to so many single moms all the time.

With the spirit of Giving, A Wareham Florist and our team of "Mom Pals" we have decided to Spread the Love by giving away Stockings filled with a variety of goodies to 15 Single Moms for Christmas. I think just knowing that somebody cares enough to do this for you, is a really special for the single mom.
In all the stocking are staple items such as lotion, hair clips, bath bombs, warm socks, candles and lip gloss. Each will also have one special item such as a bracelet, gloves or a gift card.

Do you know a single mom with young children still at home that could use some holiday love this year? Nominate her or if you yourself would like to get on our list for a Christmas stocking please PM me. If we have more than 15 women then we will pull from a hat. We will be pulling the names of the 15 women on Saturday, December 21st, entries will be open until Thursday, December 19th at 5pm.

If you are interested in donating any items or make up a filled stocking please let me know. Items can be dropped off to A Wareham Florist and donations can be sent through Venmo.

gift cards ...Local establishments ($5, $10 or $15 is very generous)
