even at an intimate wedding, guests are going to be spending a lot of time at the bar. it’s a natural place to congregate. i always advocate for bar pieces to give your guests something spectacular to look at while they are waiting in line! a statement bar arrangement dresses up an otherwise utilitarian space. it can be used as a focal point to showcase your signature drinks and also makes for a fun photo spot once a drink is in hand.

between bud vases, we interspersed sculptural pockets of pin frog arrangements in vintage sherbet dishes. pulling in a mismatch of taper and pillar candles created an unfussy, easy dinner party feel inviting guests to the table

for frankie’s wedding bouquet, we chose to lean into the current petite bouquet trend and focused on only a few floral varieties for a textured punch. dreamy nerine lilies, butter yellow lisianthus and light pink astilbe created a soft mass of unique shape and movement that perfectly complemented frankie’s classic cocktail dress silhouette

ten years ago + + i (and others) got on a plane and traveled around japan for three weeks for an arts culture travel seminar. i was 22. i really thought i was an adult and now i marvel at the person i was back then — hustling a waitressing job to pay for half the trip and just.. going! fearless and full of wonderment. i met master artisans that changed my life and how i think about art and making.

it is okay and even revered to do one thing, one singular thing, and spend your whole life working to be the best you can be at that thing. you don’t have to be a jack of all trades. make the best damn pot you can, make the best flower arrangement you can. consistently. steadily. seek and allow mentoring from those who’ve come before you.

being in the orbit of that thinking of ethic and respect for craft has never left me since i witnessed it. i’ve been thinking about this trip a lot lately and the paths rachel and i have taken since then. when you swipe, you can see that where we are now had seeds growing even all the way back then. rachel owns ceramic studio with lisa and i am ridiculously proud of her and the work she does there.

i feel so gushy! i can’t wait to celebrate and flower her engagement this fall and i can’t believe we’ve been practicing art for over a decade. and it all started in a community college classroom.

1. at yayoi kusama’s exhibit that blew my mind to bits. i didn’t know installations can be so immersive
2. rachel and i in amakusa, my first time dipping my toes in the pacific ocean
3 + 4. at an annual iris festival where my love of iris sprung!
5. we were walking around an open air mall and i saw through a window this class going on. i poked my head into an ikebana class. i had no idea what it was called at the time but i stopped and watched for a few minutes, entranced. there were SO many interesting and beautiful and meaningful arrangements i saw during that trip, often at altars and shrines and tea ceremonies.

reintroducing… jessamine ✨

gathering around a sublimely dressed table overflowing with flowers that says everyone here is special, they are loved, and they deserve to experience gorgeous things.  that’s the ambiance we want for you on your wedding day—a celebration that’s a little romantic, a little moody, and a lot joyful.   we’re here to make it happen for you, using our floral know-how, our art-school training and our willingness to ‘yes, and’ your wildest requests.

with that guiding notion, i felt it was time to shed our first skin and truly define our approach to wedding and event floristry and how clients experience jessamine in all facets. this meant looking into the heart and soul of the business— what was working, what wasn’t and more importantly — realizing the pet dreams i had when i first started.

one of those pet dreams was , celebrating the combined artistry of musicians, graphic designers and stylists who utilize floral motifs to make iconic album covers we know and love.

another was the drive home my background as a handcraft artist. it informs everything i do with jessamine, from color palette choice to sculpting design with principle and intention. this affords jessamine the expertise necessary to represent your vision and love story in a visual, highly personalized way where every detail is considered. this has been expressed through the thoughtful and fabulously talented logo work of

in guidance and brass tacks in how to get there, has been an absolute dream to collaborate with. adrienna and her team took all my kooky ideas and synthesized them into what you’ll see going forward including and certainly not least our fabulous new website.
