The weekend celebrating the Ryman wedding was nothing short of magical ✨ From the perfect spring weather to the most stunning cake, every detail came together beautifully. Mattea’s walk down the aisle was made unforgettable by the full-grown flower men absolutely owning it 🌸—and the joy continued straight into a night filled with dancing, laughter, and love surrounded by family and friends.

It was such a special evening, and I could not have done it without the incredible vendor team who poured their hearts into making the day flawless. Grateful beyond words to have been part of such a beautiful beginning for Mattea & her new husband 💕

There’s something about the mountains this time of year that feels like pure magic. ✨ Becca’s maternity session was filled with so much love, laughter, and quiet moments of wonder—like the mountains themselves were wrapping her in a big, cozy hug. Watching her glow against those rolling blue peaks was the sweetest reminder that every season of life is an adventure worth celebrating.

From now through November, the mountains are showing off their very best—warm sunsets, misty mornings, and that crisp air that makes you want to soak it all in. 🍂 It’s the perfect time for any kind of session—maternity, family, couples, or just celebrating you.

I only have two days left in October to head up to the mountains, and trust me, this season is one you don’t want to miss. Let’s make some unforgettable memories together in the most magical place Virginia has to offer. 🏔️❤️

For the third year in a row, House of Amsel is honored to participate in the National Day of Service, alongside so many other incredible local businesses. 💛 This event is organized every year by the amazing team at Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia – Haymarket, and it’s truly something special.

National Day of Service brings together businesses, neighbors, and friends to make a difference for someone right here in our own community. This year, more than 70 people and 36 businesses are joining forces to complete 40 projects at the home of Brenda, a veteran who deserves all the love and support we can give. From donated services and labor to meals, tools, and time, it’s a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community rallies together.

Jo and the Mr. Handyman team have created something extraordinary—uniting people in kindness and generosity—and I could not be prouder to be part of it. This kind of work is about more than fixing homes; it’s about building connection, dignity, and joy.

When another photographer asks me to photograph their family, I’ll be honest—I always get a little extra nervous! But wow, what a gift this evening turned out to be. Alyssa’s family session in Shenandoah was full of laughter, the most perfect evening sky, and all the magic that makes me fall in love with this place over and over again. 🌄✨

Shenandoah will forever be my favorite backdrop for family sessions, and I’m so grateful I get to share it with families who are making memories together. What a win this wedding was 🏇✨ Shooting Caitlyn + Joey’s day at Gold Cup at Great Meadows was like hitting the jackpot. Between the sunshine, the cheers, and the most stylish guests, it truly felt like we were all betting on love—and spoiler alert, we picked the winning ticket 💕

Every detail was such a perfect fit for their story. I can’t think of a more creative (and FUN!) way to say “I do” than at the races. 🥂💍 Caitlyn + Joey, you two are the real prize of the day. 🏆

The cutest idea ever ❤️

Bridesmaid proposals might just be my new favorite thing 💌✨ had the cutest idea to “propose” to her best friend with a retro twist for her upcoming wedding… and we went all in!

We found the perfect little diner that not only looked straight out of the 50s, but also played along with every crazy idea we had. Think milkshakes, neon lights, nonstop laughter, and two best friends reliving the good old days 💕

Whether it’s your wedding day or the moments leading up to it, these are the memories you’ll treasure forever. And honestly? Asking your bestie to be your bridesmaid might just be the best excuse for a night like this 🥤💍

When Amanda emailed me to ask for a goodbye session for her and her pup R***r my heart sunk. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to photograph them, when R***r was a much younger pup, and this was a stark realization of how quickly time passes. R***r had been diagnosed with a terminal cancer. Something that I myself went through with my pup just a little over two years ago. Her words hit so close to home. We made a list of his favorite things and planned for a beautiful evening celebrating what a good boy he was.

My heart broke for Amanda, but we pulled it together enough to give R***r an incredible evening filled with swimming, snuggles, and McDonald’s hamburgers. I am so thankful I was able to capture these memories for her and her sweet, good boy ❤️
