In an email I received at 9:23am this morning I was informed that due to a change in policy the DCNR will no longer grant special event permits on holiday weekends.
This will include the 12th Annual Bucks County Marathon Weekend, which is also Veterans Day weekend.
We felt it was most important to inform you of the cancellation as quickly as possible to cancel and alter travel, training and race plans.
We are working on options as quickly as we can and will let you know as soon as we possibly can.
Thanks for your patience and understanding in this situation.

Just finished up a conversation with the new Park Manager at Washington Crossing Historic Park (there's also a brand new manager at the Delaware Canal State Park)

Chasing the Unicorn Marathon and Alternative Half on September 11. 2022
and the Bucks County 5K November 12 and the
Bucks County Marathon and Delaware Canal Half Marathon (same course at the same time) on Sunday November 12, 2022

So as we sit right now, the November 2020 event weekend is still on! This will be the Tenth Annual Bucks County Marathon! We do have to make some adjustments and some clearances, and there will be field size restrictions..... plus Bucks County needs to remain in the GREEN PHASE with no setbacks so please continue to follow the guidelines. The Boston Athletic Association has been meeting regularly with city and state officials to discuss all updates related to the coronavirus. Governor Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency on March 10, 2020. In consideration of this and guided by Boston Mayor Martin Walsh along with state and municipal government leaders at all levels to undertake all possible measures to safeguard the health of the public, the B.A.A. understands the city’s decision that the Boston Marathon cannot be held on April 20, 2020. We offer our full support to take all reasonable efforts to postpone the 124th Boston Marathon to Monday, September 14, 2020.

Thank you to all of our participants, volunteers, spectators, and fans for your support and understanding at this time. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we know that there will be many questions, and in the coming days we will provide further information. Construction is complete and the trail is officially REOPENED! Come on out and enjoy it!

Just a reminder that due to continuing construction north of New Hope we're using the CHASING THE UNICORn certified course for this year's bucks County Marathon

Right on the heels of announcing the really cool shirts we'll have for early preregistrants, I'm sorry to have to make this announcement, and appreciate your understanding.

Due to continued construction at the Phillips Mill Bridge near Mile 10 of the Bucks County Marathon course we are forced to find a different course.

The easiest and smartest alternative is to use the already certified Chasing the Unicorn Marathon course. The same course we used last Sunday.

A certified course map is also attached to this email.

It's not a change we take lightly and it isn't what we'd prefer to do, but as the linked video states, this is still a marathon run on a USATF certified marathon course. USATF sanctioned. Run your BQ time and you just may qualify for the 2020 Boston Marathon.

The change does make the course a little flatter. It will be easier for your spectators to see you more often. and will reduce strain on the Medical Team. For those of you who tell me how much they hate the "Spiral of Death" we've just eliminated the mental strain of the final circle.
