Little 📸 in honor of my kids having yearbook pictures at school today.

If my memory serves me right, this was my kindergarten picture. Back when we used to hand out these little pictures to each other and sometimes family members who didn’t get the actual wallet size or a 5x7.

How I feel about the fresh round of snow. 😆
It’s really not that bad and it is January in Illinois… 🤷🏻‍♀️

But I’m ready for summer weather. My “dogs” out in some slip on shoes, one layer of clothes and ridiculous amounts of sunshine to make me smile. And every thing green.

The fun part of this picture to me is all the stuff that tells it was the mid to late 1980’s. Tell me what you see in the comments. 😉
The WCW from yesterday (my mom), took this picture when I was about 6 or 7. She is the OG shutterbug of the family. It is because of her we have so many memories to look at. Shelves of albums. We weren’t rich but she made sure to have enough to have that roll developed and prints easily available for us to look at.

Women on Wednesday: This is my momma. She is the best woman I know. Her heart belongs to God and she raised my brothers and I to seek Him first. Worship Him though acts of service. Love him by loving others. I am forever grateful for the endless prayers she prayed over us and the countless ways she poured into us.

Tuesday introductions: my husband, Adam. He’s a true outdoors man in just about every sense of the word. He hunts whatever is covered in feathers or fur, he fishes whatever body of water is close and he’ll float/paddle most flowing waterways.
He has played a ton of sports growing up, umpired softball/baseball though his heart belongs to hockey.
He is loyal, hardworking and always ready for a good time.
He has taught me so much about all the above as well as setting boundaries and standing up for myself and my family.

I wasn’t until my 20’s when Starbucks came around my very rural area. My caffeine intake is usually a Pepsi or Cherry Coke, though I’m trying to limit how much I’m having these days though!

Did you know that fall is my favorite season? 😍🍁🥰

Not because of the weather ( I prefer it hot), but more so because the way a leaf drifts down and the sky becomes a lesson in what it means to show your true colors. Because the world is leaning in to storing up all the goodness for a snowy cold day and squeezing every last drop of sunlight they can. Though it’s hard to admit, this thought goes through my mind the most at weddings. But I’m aware of it every time I pick up my camera. We photograph the things we want to remember, the things we’re the most afraid to lose.

Pictures are often something we (especially before digital) say we would grab if the house is on fire. Human memory is faulty, pictures are nearly perfect at remembering.

Howdy!! This is my second “team” member, Beau! He’s pretty fun and truly has a heart of gold!

He may not hop in front of the camera like his sisters, but he’s always up for an adventure and playing with new gadgets. He literally and figuratively runs on all cylinders when he’s on some wheels.

Now that you’ve met me and know a little trivia about me, let’s get to know my “team”. 😉

This is Claire. She’s my oldest and wisest. She was my first model who couldn’t say no (4 months she figured out what to do in front of the camera!) and now she’s my assistant for big jobs and as of this week, I put her on video editing duties.

She still models frequently for me and puts up with my ideas and lets she try out new lighting and camera tricks on her.

She also goes to school, does a few sports, reads, sews and listens to vinyls on her record player.

Figured since we have so many new followers, I’d show my face and reintroduce myself.

I’m Heidi Peterson and I’m so glad you’re here! I’ll tell ya about myslef in case you only know my name or maybe just my face, or heck maybe it’s been a few years and what you do know is outdated!!

I love taking pictures, obviously. And yea, that’s why you’re here, but let’s do a fun ice breaker to get to know me! Two truths and lie. Guess which is the lie in the comments.

1. My dream vacation is traveling with a camper all over the US, mostly backroads and visiting weird roadside attractions.

2. Since my husband is an outdoors guy, I’ve eaten deer, groundhog, turtle and frog legs.

3. My first job (besides babysitting) was as a church janitor for $50 a week, before taxes.
