It’s Monday. The weather is warming up (even if it’s not permanent) and I’m starting to fill my calendar with spring senior sessions. It’s not too late if this year has rushed by and now you’re staring down the finish line and wanting to get some fresh pictures for your grad announcements.

I had a vision in my head. A simple stripped down picture of my kids, against a plain wall. I wanted the focus to be on how they’re changing and how we are all very much in between stages right now.

Sometimes, I ask the kids to do something for me. And they do it. And I’m eternally grateful and one day, they will be too. I will use this picture as a passport back to the snow day we took a few minutes to freshen up, smile nicely and get a “good” picture I can hang on the wall. Where the oldest was in high school, bugging us about driving, Beau was losing his “kid” face and Piper was in full blown beauty mode but with all the teenage angst an 11 year old can muster.

Mind you, I have the pictures I threatened to print/post where they were acting up or giving silly faces or ready to strangle each other. Maybe soon, I’ll share the “outtakes”. 😉

Little 📸 in honor of my kids having yearbook pictures at school today.

If my memory serves me right, this was my kindergarten picture. Back when we used to hand out these little pictures to each other and sometimes family members who didn’t get the actual wallet size or a 5x7.

How I feel about the fresh round of snow. 😆

The WCW from yesterday (my mom), took this picture when I was about 6 or 7. She is the OG shutterbug of the family. It is because of her we have so many memories to look at. Shelves of albums. We weren’t rich but she made sure to have enough to have that roll developed and prints easily available for us to look at.

Women on Wednesday: This is my momma. She is the best woman I know. Her heart belongs to God and she raised my brothers and I to seek Him first. Worship Him though acts of service. Love him by loving others. I am forever grateful for the endless prayers she prayed over us and the countless ways she poured into us.

Tuesday introductions: my husband, Adam. He’s a true outdoors man in just about every sense of the word. He hunts whatever is covered in feathers or fur, he fishes whatever body of water is close and he’ll float/paddle most flowing waterways.
He has played a ton of sports growing up, umpired softball/baseball though his heart belongs to hockey.
He is loyal, hardworking and always ready for a good time.
He has taught me so much about all the above as well as setting boundaries and standing up for myself and my family.

Did you know that fall is my favorite season? 😍🍁🥰

Not because of the weather ( I prefer it hot), but more so because the way a leaf drifts down and the sky becomes a lesson in what it means to show your true colors. Because the world is leaning in to storing up all the goodness for a snowy cold day and squeezing every last drop of sunlight they can. Though it’s hard to admit, this thought goes through my mind the most at weddings. But I’m aware of it every time I pick up my camera. We photograph the things we want to remember, the things we’re the most afraid to lose.

Pictures are often something we (especially before digital) say we would grab if the house is on fire. Human memory is faulty, pictures are nearly perfect at remembering.
