Cosmos Data Sonification Mix
Using the same image data captured during NASA’s various space exploration missions, they’ve rendered the data into sounds by mapping various aspects like brightness, color etc. to pitch, amplitude etc. This is called the sonification of data & their entire library of such pieces is available at https://chandra.si.edu/sound/
I took these sonified pieces & mixed them into a set. When I started I had not idea that the “composition” would be so beautiful & expansive as our cosmos. What particularly stands out to me as a DJ is that it’s a completely non-uniform experience with the energy ebbing & flowing as unpredictably as the matter in our cosmos. What you’ll notice is the sudden silences & peaks which represent the non-uniformity in our cosmos.
This was such an enriching experience to me as a DJ & I’m thrilled to bring this to a larger audience. Thank you NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration
