A bunch of people have asked who we are and how this party came to be. So here it is.
ONE NIGHT DC started when our founder, Julian, decided that the time had come for a truly epic party at Policy Conference. Julian envisioned a party that would bring together Israel-lovers of all stripes for one unforgettable night. A non-ideological, non-sectarian, out-of-this world, all-fun celebration was needed.
Luckily, Julian knows a thing or two about parties. An LA-based experiential marketing executive and entrepreneur, Julian has produced some of the hottest parties in North America. A New Year's Eve party for 2000 people at the famed Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, a rooftop shindig at the W Hollywood, and the official tailgate for the Canadian Superbowl (GreyCup) are a few highlights of Julian's handiwork. Julian pulled out all the stops to make ONE NIGHT DC a party like none other.
But ONE NIGHT DC was always inteded to be a party with a purpose. So next, the search was on for a cause. The cause needed to be something that, like the party, would unite all Israel-lovers. The cause couldn't reflect a single perspective, ideology, or organization preference. As we scoured the interwebs and racked our brains, fate intervened. Our friend Shahar, from New York, shared a video about needy Holocaust survivors - survivors of the greatest crime in human history who today struggle for food and heating oil. The consensus was immediate; we knew we needed to help. Our cause was found.
The last piece of puzzle came together as most things do, through friends. Our friend Nadav, in Chicago, learned about ONE NIGHT DC and put us in touch with Sami Steigmann. Sami is a Holocaust survivor who was just 18 months old when he and his parents were sent to a camp. We had one conversation with Sami, and the rest, as they say, was history. Today, Sami is our grand marshal, and will be partying with us all night.
We at ONE NIGHT DC are pleased to run our epic celebration, informed by our founder's expertise, and inspired by Sami's heroism and exuberance.
ONE NIGHT DC is an independent project launched in parternship with the Steigmann Tolerance Foundation, of New York City.
