Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin was the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Her life achievements include a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1979, a Grammy Legend Award in 1991, National Medal of Arts in 1999, and was bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. And yet, this captures only a fraction of the impact Franklin had on the representation of black women artists in America.
