Event Tip You’ll Want to Steal!

When I plan events, I rarely repeat elements, but this one is a game-changer I’ll gladly put on repeat!

It all started with my own 50th birthday celebration. Instead of the usual slice-and-serve cake, I gave each guest their own personal cake masterpiece, perched on a sleek glass pedestal. Yes, it was dessert, but it doubled as decor. Once they realize, guests are mesmerized, the cameras come out, the excitement builds, and the table becomes a gallery of edible art.

And here’s the kicker: venues and caterers? That cake-cutting fee? Gone. Because there’s nothing to cut. Nothing to serve. Just pure, pre-set perfection.
This isn’t just a dessert; it’s a statement piece. A conversation starter. A moment-maker.

So yes, I’m putting this on repeat. And you should too. If you’re looking for a dessert moment that’s beautiful, functional, and totally unforgettable, this is it!
Your guests will thank you. Trust me.

Highly recommend. Highly repeatable.

They keep coming back… and I’ll always show up for them.

There’s something sacred about legacy clients. They’re the ones who believed in you from the beginning. Who trusted your vision and guidance. Who return again and again not just for your services, but for the experience, the connection, the magic you bring to their lives.

So, when one of my legacy clients reached out to have me plan their wedding next year… I didn’t hesitate. Weddings may not be my primary business model anymore, but for my legacy clients, I’ll move mountains! I’ll make room. I’ll say yes, every time.

And it doesn’t stop there; next month, I’m heading to Nassau, Bahamas to plan a 50th birthday celebration for another legacy client whose 40th I planned a decade ago. Full circle moments like these remind me why I do what I do.

Because this is what it’s all about; building a business that becomes part of someone’s story. That gets invited back for the milestones. That gets remembered.

To every legacy client who continues to choose Signature Concepts LLC: thank you for making this more than business. You are the heartbeat of what I do.

Back in July, I had the incredible honor of speaking at the NACE Experience National Conference in Milwaukee, where I shared my signature talk: "Bankable Networking."

In this breakout session, I broke down professional networking using banking principles, because building your network should be just as intentional as building your financial portfolio.

Think relationship equity, intentional deposits, and long-term investments in people. When we treat our connections like valuable assets, we create a network that’s rich in trust, opportunity, and mutual growth.

It was an unforgettable experience connecting with so many passionate professionals who are ready to level up their networking game!

Now I want to hear from you:
-How do YOU go about building meaningful relationships in your professional life?

Drop your thoughts below!

Did you read my latest blog yet? If not, I truly hope you do because this one comes straight from the heart.

In the events industry, we’ve all encountered gatekeepers those who guard their knowledge like treasure. But what if we chose to be gardeners instead? Leaders who plant seeds, nurture growth, and share wisdom freely?

In my latest blog post, I reflect on my experience and why I believe sharing is the most powerful leadership tool we have. When we open up, we build friendships, foster trust, and create a stronger, more connected community.

If you’ve ever felt shut out or longed for more collaboration in your journey, this post is for you.

NEW BLOG POST!!!!!

Gatekeepers vs. Gardeners?

In the creative industry, we’ve all met both. Gatekeepers hold the keys, guard the doors, and keep their knowledge close, afraid that sharing might shrink their spotlight.

Gardeners they plant seeds. They nurture growth. They share wisdom freely, knowing that when others bloom, the whole field flourishes.

With 22+ years in this industry, I have always chosen to be a gardener. I mentor, I speak, I connect...not because I have all the answers, but because I believe in building a community where we all rise together.

My latest blog post dives deep into this idea; how gatekeeping hurts us, and how openness builds friendships, trust, and a stronger creative ecosystem.

NEW BLOG POST ALERT !

“I Am Not Pivoting, I Am EVOLVING” is now live on my blog!

After 22 years in business, I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always look like a straight line. Sometimes it’s messy, sometimes it’s unexpected but it’s always meaningful. In my latest blog post, I’m sharing a deeply personal reflection on why I’m choosing to EVOLVE instead of pivot, and how this shift is shaping the next chapter of my journey as a leader, speaker, and visionary in our industry.

This blog is for every entrepreneur who’s ever felt like change meant failure.

Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. It means you’re growing...you're EVOLVING!

I invite you to read it, reflect on your own journey, and share your thoughts with me.

After you read it, drop a comment and let me know how it resonated with you.

I’d love to hear what you are EVOLVING into.

NEW BLOG POST JUST DROPPED!

“I Am Not Pivoting, I Am EVOLVING” is now live on the blog!

Let’s talk about the difference. Pivoting vs. Evolving.

In business, we hear the word pivot all the time. It’s become the go-to phrase when things don’t go as planned. But lately, I’ve been asking myself, does pivoting truly reflect the heart of our entrepreneurial journey?

To me, pivoting feels reactive. Like something didn’t work, so now we have to change direction. It carries a weight of “fixing” or “starting over.”

But EVOLVING?

EVOLVING is powerful. It’s intentional. It’s rooted in growth, wisdom, and transformation. It’s about becoming more aligned with your purpose, your values, and your vision even when the path looks different than you imagined.

I’m not pivoting because something went wrong.

I’m evolving because I’ve grown.

Let’s open up the conversation:
Have you ever felt the difference between pivoting and evolving in your own journey?

Drop a comment and share your experience, I’d love to hear how you’re embracing your evolution.

And if you haven’t read my latest blog post yet, go read it now! It’s a heartfelt reflection on why I’m choosing to EVOLVE, and how this shift is shaping the next chapter of my business and leadership.

20 years ago, I started this journey with nothing but passion and grit. There were no roadmaps, no workshops, no mentors showing me the way. I had to figure it out, step by step, mistake by mistake.

Today, as I continue to evolve as an entrepreneur and business professional, I feel a deep responsibility to give back. To be the light for someone else. To share what I’ve learned so others don’t have to walk alone.

If you’re ready to grow, pivot, or transition into the world of corporate events, I invite you to join me in Washington, DC on September 8th for The Resilient by Design Workshop hosted by my friend Brian Greene in collaboration with Renée Dalo. .pro.workshop

This will be an intimate, powerful space where I’ll share the tools, insights, and mindset shifts that helped me thrive and help you do the same.

Let’s grow together. Let’s lead together. Let’s build legacies.

Let’s talk about networking—beyond the filters and photo ops.

In my latest blog post, I dive into how social media has reshaped networking into a performance, where status often overshadows substance. But here’s the truth: real relationship equity takes time and intentionality.

Ask yourself:
• Are you networking with purpose or just showing up?
• Are you building relationships or collecting contacts?
• Do you realize that relationship-building takes time before you reap the rewards?
• Are you letting social media influence how you connect?

Remember: Networking events provide the people, the space, and the resources, but it’s up to YOU to do the work. The host sets the stage, but you write the script.

In the blog, I share 7 intentional networking moves that deliver ROI, plus the tools you need to stay ready; business cards (traditional or digital), a strong LinkedIn presence, and virtual platforms like Zoom or Google Meet for meaningful follow-ups.

Networking isn’t just showing up, it’s showing UP with strategy!

In my latest blog post, I break down 7 intentional moves that turn networking into real ROI.

Here’s a sneak peek:

• Meet someone NEW at every event
• Leverage small-scale gatherings for deeper connections
• Scout the venue & connect with key contacts
• Engage with sponsors—they’re the hidden gems
• Avoid the comfort zone (yes, even your favorite crew)
• Play the long game—relationships take time
• Follow through—be consistent, be valuable

Plus, I share the essential tools you need to network like a pro: business cards (yes, even digital ones), LinkedIn, and virtual platforms for post-event follow-ups.

NEW BLOG POST! "Beyond the Selfie: Reclaiming the Power of Intentional Networking".

Let’s talk about the real reason networking feels off sometimes…

After 20+ years in the game, I’ve seen how the rise of social media has glamorized networking into a status-driven spectacle. The pressure to be seen, to be “in,” and to chase the perfect photo opp has replaced the true purpose: building intentional, strategic relationships.

In my latest blog post, I’m breaking down how to reclaim networking as a powerful investment in your business—and your future.

No Copy-Paste Events Here

One thing I’ve learned since transitioning into corporate events: they love to repeat what worked last time.

But here’s the thing; I don’t do rinse and repeat.

When a client says, “Let’s do the same thing again,” I quietly reach into my creative hat and say, “Oh no, we’re doing it differently.”

That’s where my background in social event planning becomes my secret weapon. I know how to reinvent, reimagine, and refresh every experience, because no two events should ever feel the same.

Right now, I’m being tasked with exactly that for next month’s Executive Leadership Retreat. It’s our second year planning it and yes, we’re using many of the same vendors. But this time around, I’m elevating the experience with new design elements, unexpected moments, and a fresh narrative that will make it feel like a brand-new event.

Delivering a new experience every time not only flexes your creative muscles as a planner, it also shows corporate clients that business events don’t have to be boring. They can be bold, immersive, and unforgettable.

That’s the Signature Concepts difference.
