Beginning with the performances on August 21st, The Magic Duel Comedy Show is joining the coalition of theatres across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area that have united to provide the highest level of public safety for their audiences, performers, staff and volunteers, by requiring that their audiences provide proof of vaccination to attend all live public performances at their indoor venues.

The Magic Duel is committed to the safety of all who work, perform, and visit our venues, and invites audiences to join in the effort to slow the spread of COVID 19. The Magic Duel has also mandated COVID vaccinations for performers and theatre staff.

Patrons must be able to show proof that they are fully vaccinated at the time of their entry into the show through December 2021. Please keep this requirement in mind and give yourself more time than usual to arrive at the venue and check in for the show. The box office opens 1 hour prior to showtime for check in. Delays caused by late arrivals may cause the show to begin after the scheduled curtain time. The December end date is subject to change and will be re-reviewed beginning in October. The mandate of DC Mayor Bowser that masks be required for audiences inside the theatre remains in effect except while eating or drinking in designated locations.

“Fully vaccinated” means that either 14 days have passed since receiving the second dose of FDA or WHO authorized double-dose vaccines or that 14 days have passed since receiving the sole dose of FDA or WHO authorized single-dose vaccines.

Patrons may display proof of vaccination with a physical or digital copy of their vaccination card. Digital proof on your phones is available with numerous apps, including Clear; DC residents vaccinated in the District can also consider the MyIRMobile.com app.

EXEMPTIONS

The Magic Duel will offer exemptions for those unable to be vaccinated, such as people with certain medical conditions preventing vaccination, or those with closely held religious beliefs that prevent vaccination. These patrons must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test from within 48 hours or a negative COVID-19 antigen test from within 24 hours before performance start time.

Please also be advised that it is the responsibility of the ticket purchaser to communicate these rules to whomever they may be providing tickets.

Performance ticket holders who do not comply with these policies will not be admitted.

Tired of dinner and a movie? Magic isn't for kids anymore. Washington’s snarkiest magicians battle for the title of DC’s Best in The Magic Duel. This show is full of seriously funny magic that will fool you. Badly. Audience members choose the magical challenges for the contest and then vote electronically to determine the winner of the coveted 'Golden Wand.' The Magic Duel has 5-star ratings on Yelp, TripAdvisor and Goldstar. Performances at the beautiful and historic Mayflower Hotel - Autograph Collection since 2015.

Suggested dress is: Cocktail Attire. A well balanced mix of comedy, magic and audience participation, The Magic Duel was created for "grown ups," 18 years and older, and encourages patrons to 'dress to impress." Though the show does have some mature themes, the age advisory is to promote and maintain the sophisticated atmosphere of the Mayflower hotel. Additionally the Magic Duel features genuinely "non-cheesy" magic (think America’s Got Talent or Penn & Teller’s Fool Us) that can be appreciated by discerning adults. The Magic Duel has two performances on each show date, 5:00PM and 8:00PM. Seating begins 45 minutes prior to show time; ticket holders may reserve their seat (all seating besides the premium front row is general admission). Audience members are encouraged to bring drinks from the Mayflower's bar, Edgar, to the performance. Seating is limited to ensure good visibility. Front row VIP tickets are available at a premium price. The Farragut North Metro station is one block away, and there is both street and garage parking available.
