The Cheerful Balloon + The Pittsburgh Steelers = A Winning Combination!

On Thursday, the Alex Highsmith Family Foundation brought the community together for their annual Back-To-School Bash at the Best of the Batch Foundation—supporting over 300 amazing kids with supplies and resources to kick off the school year strong!

It was an absolute honor to create the photo op backdrop for this event and to bring some extra cheer to the festivities!

Hot take: If you're a balloon decorator and you're not learning basic twisting... you're holding yourself back.

Why? Because once you’ve got those fundamentals down, it’s such an easy way to add serious wow factor to your work.

Sure, I could have used foil accents or foam board cutouts here—but they wouldn’t have gotten nearly as many “ooohs,” “ahhhs,” or “Wait… how did she do that?” reactions.

This was a big lightbulb moment for me at this year’s Tuftex Experience, especially after chatting with some incredible artists like , , , and who are using twisting to elevate their decor game.

Time to level up, friends. 💪🎈

'Twas the night before Tuftex, and all through the inn,
Balloon pros were gathering, eager to begin;
The workshops would start in less than a day,
But first it was time for a pajama par-tay!

The ballroom was festive - every corner a treat,
From candy cane arches to Santa's special seat.
And giant trees, too! They truly did dazzle,
Thanks to the crew of Confetti Castle.

First we gathered ‘round tables, balloons in hand,
For a centerpiece challenge, the best in the land!
My team gave it heart—we designed with delight,
And we came in second! (First place? Let's fight!)

Then karaoke began, and we all did cheer
As our friends belted out songs for us all to hear.
I gave it a try - my first time, in fact
Thanks to Nikki, who had my back.

The music was loud, and the vibes were so bright,
We twirled and we laughed deep into the night.
With glitter and garlands and balloon buds so dear,
We cheered for tomorrow—it’s finally here!

For soon we’d be learning, creating, and more,
With tips for our businesses we couldn’t ignore.
But tonight, we just partied, in joyful suspense,
At the holly-jolly start of the Tuftex Experience.

TUFTEX EXPERIENCE was a VIBE!

I have so many pictures and videos and stories to share from this conference, but let's ease in with a carousel of some of the amazing art that was on display through the week. (Including mine in the 9th slide).

The hotel was filled with colorful inspiration everywhere you turned! And this was just the start - each day we created even more art through Hands-On workshops, and every night was a different themed party with over-the-top decor.
