Raising Funds for Expanding our Services
Here's what we do. We just want to grow to meet the growing needs of our community and want to add on to our existing building. Funds raised through the Walk Across Wasilla will help us provide more:
Transitional Housing:
Increase our ability to house up more families experiencing homelessness. We currently house 2 families in a ranch-style home.
Quarantine/Disaster/Homeless Youth (18 and over) Overflow Housing:
Provide tiny homes for families who need to be quarantined, or who have experienced a house fire, earthquake, busted pipes, or other issue that forces them out of their home due to a disaster. We want to develop a Tiny Town with the H.O.P.E. Center as the hub, creating a campus setting. There is land we could purchase in an area of Wasilla, directly across the street from a fire station, walk-in medical clinic, pediatric clinic, dental clinic, a bank, and a convenience store. Wal-Mart is within walking distance, as well as our local food pantry.
Giving Closet:
We have so many in-kind donations coming through the front door. Many in-kind donors state, “We don’t want to take them to a thrift store, we want them given to people who can’t afford them”. These items would be free to disaster survivors, our graduated families and those in our shelter, and will be offered to low-income families in the community. This building will provide a donation/sorting space and two areas for them to be available from an outside door.
Handicapped Accessible:
All buildings need to be handicapped accessible.
Office/Conference Room:
4 Offices with 1 Conference/bathroom space for staff. Rentable space available to other community Non-Profit organizations who need space for meetings. (ie. OCS Team Decision Meetings, Wasilla Homeless Committee Meetings, FP Board Meetings, etc.). Also, the space could be available for Financial and Parenting classes.
Nanny Nook:
Child care that is offered during evenings, overnights, and weekends. A service not currently of
