We have a "love, hate" relationship with sugar. It tastes so good but we know, it's bad for us. People say it is like a drug.
We did some research and found out that a slice of cake can have 20 to 35 g of sugar. Sometimes up to 48 g.
If you add frosting (or confectioner sugar) on top, this can easily double (or more!) the sugar content of the whole cake.
2 tbsp of buttercream frosting has 22-24 g sugar!!
This is why we try not to decorate with sugar. It turns a good thing into a bad thing.

So, WHAT is this NEW food we are bringing to the Cedar Valley Farmers Markets tomorrow 3-6 pm?
It is a SAVORY CAKE!
Just like crêpes and quiches, they come in many flavor combinations. We love how nutritious they are with a side salad or soup. Easy to serve for an appetizer or take to a picnic or work, they are a French classic.
We are bringing two flavors which are sold by the slice.
One with green olives, ham and gruyere cheese.
The other with zucchini, feta cheese and mint.
Our savory cakes will always be gluten-free and you can’t tell the difference. Our loaf pans are dedicated for GF use only.
Note that these cakes do contain dairy. Feel free to wrap the slice in plastic and freeze it for up to 3 months.
