Please welcome Chef Curtis Garrow to The Roving Feast team! Curtis joined us late last fall and is our new Head Chef.

Chef Curtis has a rich and diverse background making him the perfect fit to evolve our culinary and events program and facilitate growth. Curtis hails from Enosburg and is a New England Culinary Institute grad. He spent a few years working in large hotels in D.C. before following his heart back home to VT, where he has built a strong reputation of hard work on the management side and amazing food from the line.

We are just thrilled to have him on board and look forward to all of the great things to come.

(Fun fact: Curtis worked at our little Malletts Bay restaurant, almost 10 years ago...back in the day. It's been awesome to watch him grow into the amazing chef, husband and father that he is today. We're very excited to have him back.)

I hope you’re all doing well and settling in for the upcoming holiday. So, a few weeks ago Chris and I went to NYC to do a fun (but terrifying and very challenging) thing. I was asked to film a cooking show pilot that was just released into the wild yesterday. Now comes the hard part…it’s on a streaming platform (www.eatthistv.com) and to help my odds of getting it picked up for a series by them, I need to self-promote it for viewership and engagement (from comments on the video). If you know me at all, this part is very hard! I really don’t enjoy “putting myself out there”. In a world of social media and self-display, I’m still trying to find my way. You can hear in my voice how uncomfortable I am, but overall it was a great experience. By the end I felt a confidence I didn’t know existed. I’m very sure that the next one would be much different; so, with a little help from my friends, I might be able to get another chance!

So, it was very encouraging to know that yesterday, FEMA came knocking on our door; unsolicited, just wanting to help us address our concerns. We had some land damage, but nothing devastating or anything that prohibited our business or even day to day. If you have been affected, and are awaiting a response or some movement- PLEASE reach out to them directly. They let us know that crews are on the ground here and looking to be directed where the greatest needs are. I'm fairly certain that the most hard hit have gotten the connections needed, but to anyone that is feeling left behind, or in a remote area that isn't getting the coverage they need- call 800-621-3362 or go to disasterassistance.gov.

Ideally, we find someone with professional catering or restaurant experience, but will train the right person who has good kitchen skills, can learn quickly and knows how to hustle. It was, literally, a dream come true to be able to provide lunch and a subsequent cocktail hour/mixology class for the designers and Discovery staff at the HGTV dream home a few weeks back (I've been entering for more years than I can remember!). We can't wait to be there again in a few more weeks! We love the opportunities this awesome community allows us and the amazing people that pass through. Who knew the Mad River Valley was the place to be? (Well, we've always known, but, wow!!!).

We are also offering our amazing Cobb Salad for Two (chicken breast, avocado, tomato, Applewood bacon, red onion, blue cheese, hard-boiled egg and croutons over organic mixed greens with blue cheese dressing). $20

All of The Roving Feast's food is scratch made using only the finest ingredients. We work with many local farms and purveyors and utilize organic products as much as possible. Each meal is prepared that day and only requires a gentle reheating (15-30 minutes in a 350 degree oven, depending on personal preference).

Currently, we are accepting prepayment by credit card (by phone or email right now….), Venmo and Paypal. If you are feeling sick or are immunocompromised, doorstop delivery can be arranged, just let me know.

Menu for Tuesday, June 23rd:

Prosciutto, Apricot and Boursin Cheese Stuffed Pork Loin with Rosemary Roasted Baby Potatoes and Sautéed Zucchini, finished with a White Wine Dijon Pan Sauce $18
