Once you’re under her wing, you’re family for eternity! Coming from a big family, including our fabulous , she’s all about creating an even BIGGER found family. I very rarely share on socials anymore and almost never anything super personal. But I feel like I need to share some of the chaos our family has been going through the last 5 months. (I did get Anabelle's permission to share...the cutie pictured!)

On June 10, 2022, our life changed forever. In times of crisis, it's odd the things you remember. I remember being on the phone with a wonderful bride and just looking at Belles laying on our bed and thinking something is very wrong. In about a 10-minute window, Anabelle's breathing had changed and was now a kind of a whole-body thing. We debated calling 911 vs me taking her into the emergency room. It was decided that I would take her to the ER. (Hindsight this was a mistake...but who knew.)

Within about an hour of getting to the ER we were in an ambulance is on our way to the UW Children's Hospital where Anabelle was being admitted to the PICU. Why? Because she was in DKA and they believed she has Type 1 diabetes.

After an ambulance ride, a hospital stay, and countless meetings with doctors, nurses, NPs, PAs, nutritionists, pharmacists, and therapists we were released back into the world weighed down with our new reality of living with Type 1 Diabetes. November is National Diabetes Awareness month.

What do I want from this SUPER long post. 1. I want people to know what to watch out for in your kids. Our pediatrician and P*P are fantastic, but no one ever told me what to look out for or the warning signs. 2. Donate. We are going into the holiday season when many of your companies match charitable donations. Please consider donating to either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

While my family is blessed to have the support and resources to ensure Belles is happy and healthy many families don't. Let's help find a cure or at the very least make these life-saving medicines accessible to everyone!

It has been ages since we have posted on "the gram"...yep using that term probably aged us! Oh well! For those newly engaged couples or those new to The Darling Wedding Co, let us introduce ourselves.

When we started Beyond Elegant Events (which morphed into The Darling Wedding Co in 2017) in 2004, we had no idea that it would take off as rapidly as it did, surpassing our wildest expectations. When we started there was literally 1 other planner in Madison. (A super sweet lady named Marissa!)

In 2017 we changed course and instead of wanting to conquer the world and be the biggest, we decided we just wanted to be us. A small team that works our booty's off to make each client feel like they are part of our family…because the DWC is truly a family! Once a client always a friend!

We work with our couples to create a stellar team, complete with amazing wedding professionals to bring their dream day to life. Planning a wedding is an enormous task, with heightened emotions, many challenges, and countless decisions. (This was the case even before 2020 & 2021!) We streamlined our process to help make the planning of such a huge day feel as stress-free as possible.
