A traditional orchard with 7 apple trees underplanted with daffodils... In areas where rabbits or deer are a problem if you underplant an apple tree with daffodils they will keep away from it because they know the bulbs are poisonous. Bulbs of all natures, chives and garlic are also good, shallow rooted they suppress grass that could interfere with the nutrients gained by the tree. Permaculture Research Institute.

Well, it’s a wrap! We are now mulching leaves and conditioning the rows for spring. All of the work isn’t done but the tubers are all tucked away and put to sleep. The final count…2,615 tubers!!! My hands 🥴🥴 I told Craig that I now think I am the fastest tuber divider this side of the Mississippi! Looking forward to spring already. I’ll post a dahlia once a week or so with info on it just to keep some color in our lives this winter!
