I have to tell you the story about this beautiful event that happened last night, December 21st.
I was asked to officiate a small wedding at a local park as an “official” step to the couple’s elopement overseas. The groom texted me to say this would be a SURPRISE CEREMONY- meaning that while the bride knew they would meet with me at some point, she did not know when.
I arrived at the park a few minutes before our meeting time, 2 guys walked over a gorgeous arch, a girl brought large glass hurricane candles, and the father set out luminaries to form an aisle (that we weighted with everyone’s keys).
The couple arrived to see their family standing around a huge Christmas tree in the middle of the park, perhaps for a family photo? And the bride was so cool when she realized what was about to happen!! Not to mention she was STUNNING in a tailored suit and floor length fur coat (she’s always beautiful, but she was gorgeous!)
When it came to vows, the groom wrote personal vows that he read aloud then said, “don’t worry babe, I wrote yours too!” She took his phone and began to read:
“I will do all the chores while you watch football and cook for you every night…” this was, of course, followed by “just kidding” and very beautifully written, sentimental words that he wrote, just for her. ❤️
All in All- this one definitely goes to the very top of my list for most romantic weddings yet!!!
And it was planned in just a few weeks with the help of friends and family. I have no doubt that the after party was just as phenomenal, filled with love and excitement for the newlyweds. I can’t wait to see pictures from their grand wedding in the DR this February!!!
*the cake below was made by my daughter as a gift for the bride and groom, and I prepared a holiday bouquet to help make the occasion feel more official.
Merriest of Christmases to the happy couple!! ❤️
