Our car show star Jesse Tatum for rescuing Schuyler Jones on the sugar soft dirt road that no one was supposed to take but many did. For the record Jimmy's Tint Shop went four wheeling through there in his 68 Chevelle and made it (we don't know how!)

This event was a huge success for us and we are extremely grateful to everyone who helped. If I missed your name or business I apologize it has been a wild and wonderful ride and we will do it again next year!

Stay tuned for our next event!!! Hint hint Obediah's 200th birthday is July 25th.

Last but not least is the woman who keeps me in line, in tune and for the most part on time. Amy Kent Hinkle without you I could not focus on other fun and adventurous endeavors. You rock.

We are all cleaned up and ready to go for the car show on Sunday! Looking forward to seeing everyone at Obediah's. Gates open at noon for car show entries and vendors! Gates open at 2 for admission!!!
The Georgia line dancers will kick us off, then Live music from hometown local David Thornton from Swamp Dust followed by Jacksonville legend Wes Cobb and finishing up with the crowd favorite The Pine Box Dwellers! We will have local vendors selling food and wares!!!

Your registration includes free roam of Obediah's museum, live music, the Old homestead and a fantastic stroll through time!!!

Roger and I cannot thank you enough for the invaluable heritage seeds that you have provided us to plant this year at Obediah's Okefenok Event Center.

We are currently cultivating Sugarcane, Cowhorn Okra (pre 1865),🍉 Georgia rattlesnake watermelon (pre 1880),🎃 Dutch Fork pumpkins (1750s), Georgia collards (pre 1880), gopher rice (circa 1870s), Altamaha white front corn (Pre- 1840), Florida speckled butter beans (circa 1840s), and Jodi Corbitt field peas (pre1900)

I am praying that my green thumb is as green in Georgia as it is in Florida!!!

If it were not for folks like Chris the preservation, history and the integrity of the Okefenokee Swamp could become just a thing of the past.

We are just getting started at Obadiah's. Hurricane Helene set us back considerably but as we roll towards our grand opening, we are so very grateful for all of the continued support from the community and we look forward to hosting school field trips, historical reenactments, welcoming scouts as well as church groups and reviving this historical and much valued part of Waycross and Okefenokee history.
