Sunflowers and Black Eyed Susans! The Same But Different? They are both members of the Aster family. Sunflowers are larger and taller. Black Eyed Susans are busher and grow lower to the ground. Both are excellent pollinators for butterflies and bees! Sunflowers are completely edible! You can roast not only the seeds but the flower heads too! Black Eyed Susans are for the birds... literally! They are not very palatable to people! Birds don't seem to mind them at all!
