Missing kitty, chipped, please let us know if you see her. Flat Creek Area in Weaverville, N.C.
Mom, Aretha, buckskin and Chi-lites, daughter, are in the birthing pen. Both pregnant by Mickey's massive apron fail. These 2 are inseparable. Both cry for each other upon separation. I am not sure how it will go with them together but I am willing to try and see if we can kid together. Mom will most likely kid first. Time will tell. Our new theme song is " If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time".
Our baby boy's first day in the buck pen without any contact with his Mama. Jackson5 and Drifters going on with their headbutting show, ignoring him completely.
My bottle baby buckling is the most bucky buck I have here at Mow-Town Acres. He is absolutely gorgeous but so full of himself!
Very soon these 2 will join the herd. A sad day for the bottle babies, but it is time to be real goaties!
The girls are chillin like Dylan this morning...
The boys and their Dad watching to see if anyone is coming out...
It was 32` and lower so I turned on the heat lamp and all 3 of these goaties are under it. They love it! It is in the 40s currently and they are still under it. So spoiled!!!
A very tough day again today. Diana had her babies today. One huge girl didn't make it. The 2 smaller kids made it. The smallest one was lifeless after he was born but upon rubbing the heck out of him, warming him up, giving him some Karo syrup, syringe feeding him colostrum he is up and eating all by himself. The middle sized is eating fine but has slept all day.
It is time for milking. Both does come out to get the job done. Bonnie comes too to offer moral support!
Martha is an excellent Mom!
Figuring out the best escape method!
A couple of boys born at Mow-Town Acres on the last day of September. The first 2 bucklings born on our little farm.
Many of the folks our critters here are named after are the legends of Motown or folks very closely associated with Berry Gordy, the founder. Many of them are long gone from this world but a few are still around. Today is a sad day for us as we heard of the passing of Tina Turner at 83 years young. We loved her and her music not to mention her living life to the fullest. She will be missed.
Below is our Tinaturner, a feral that is very easily petted today. Can't pick her up but she loves scratchies and head bumps. She came here in 2020. This was taken in September of that year after a few months here. Today she is our front porch guard cat! She can be as fierce as her namesake.
Gladys is my herd queen. She always eats first and mostly alone. She pushes the others away. She us certainly quite bossy.
Thanks to Mary L. we had a fresh pine buffet and it was delicious!
A beautiful day to munch on our pine buffet here in WNC. For free goat therapy come see us on beautiful days between 2 and 4 and 6 to 8.
I realize there is a difference of opinion as to whether or not a bottle baby is more friendly than a dam raised kid. I have a goat, Berry, my little pink ear and nose that was born a quad, in a very large herd, maybe 50 or so, that is so people oriented you would swear she was bottle fed. She just stands with head in my lap chewing her cud for long periods of time. If I am scratching her head and neck she can't be pried away from me. She is such a lover!
I got 2 of my 3 hay feeders today and they are awesome! My friend HK makes them and they work well for my hay snatchers!!!
