For a few years, we have dreamed about transforming the backyard into a magical garden where you can just wander.

Then early last year, our garage got demolished by a fallen tree. Instead of using the insurance pay out to replace the garage, we decided to use some of it for something that would truly make us happy and create our dream garden.

After all that dreaming and months of planning (and working on other house projects first), we finally started the transformation today.

Now, we can’t wait for spring when we can work on all the plantings, starting with a wall of climbing roses to draw you in.

Someday this will all be a series of garden rooms with just enough of a peek into the next one to draw you along the winding path.

Likely the last few bouquets for this growing season. Almost time to turn over the beds for spring.

“I need to walk the garden” is something you’ll hear us say after a long, challenging day in our day jobs. It’s hard to beat that slow stroll of close-looking to calm us. Today was hard, but tonight we got to walk the garden.

We may have gotten four inches of snow this weekend, but we are seeing signs of spring all around. Thankful for our greenhouse where the tulips are budding, daffodils are starting, and ranunculus are thriving. Spring and homemade bouquets will be here before we know it. 🙌
