I read that the book pictured here, Martha Stewart Weddings was a treasure trove of info for all things weddings, most important to me, the flowers 😂

Who knew that there were so many bouquet shapes to choose from?

I love winter time to learn new things! Next week I am headed to Rothschild,WI to learn more about taking the test to become a certified florist with the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Florists Association.
One of the things I love most about Flower Farming are the endless opportunities to wear different hats and learn new things. Sometimes it gets to be a lot, but today the sun is shining and I’ve got a great cup of coffee and a good book. Today is good!

2025 marks our 5th year of growing for our community. Looking back on where we've been helps me to generate such gratefulness. Around this time of year Rob and I like to create a vision/goal board to launch us into the with a path in mind.

This year I am having a hard time because 2024 was literally so great. We manifested SO many of our dreams from the past years. We were able to expand the farm with our new homestead by planting over 2000 new plants. We got a new doggie, who is such a good boy. We made our new space our own, creating a cozy space to relax and grow in. I think all of this leads me to wonder, can I even ask for any more? When things are so good, a sense of "Oh no, what is about to go wrong?" creeps in. I've read a lot about this feeling, it is called foreboding joy. It prevents us from sinking to deep into pure joy because of fear of it being ripped out from under us. (I hope I am not alone is this 🙏). It is a scary feeling. But, thank goodness this isn't the end and there is a LIGHT 💡 in all this darkness. GRADITUTDE stops this feeling, gratefulness can help us really sink into JOY and appreciate our lives when they really are so good. I looked back on all these moments photographed below to find that today! I am thankful for baby goats, and flowers, and smiles, and the color yellow, and new beginnings, and good food, and new opportunities. Amen. 🧚‍♀️💗🤗 Thank you!!!!!!

I love this time of year. All the ideas are flowing for next year, there is so much hope and so many possibilities. I am enjoying the stillness that comes with winter and time to reflect and relax a bit too.

Our basement window made me grateful today.

Our little Christmas cactus is blooming. It’s crazy to think during this time of year when it is so grey and dark that there is this amazing plant that decides to flower. 🌺
This cactus was given to us many years ago by our landlord. This our first Christmas in our own home. I couldn’t be more grateful looking back on all the things that brought us here. Thank you for being along for our flower farm’s journey and believing in us.🙏❤️

Did you know that beautiful florals for weddings can take months to plan? 💒

This gorgeous September wedding was put together over 9️⃣ months of idea sharing and creative planning. This gave me plenty of time to bring not only the creative vision to life, but also stay within the budget. I loved emailing the bride and discussing new ideas to really make an impact with the florals on her big day. I take a lot of pride in having open communication with my brides👰‍♀️, responding quickly and honestly with their questions and creative ideas.
The one thing I hear so often from brides is that, when it comes to their big day, having vendors they can trust to show up is SO important.
What bride wants to be stressed when their vendors cancel last minute or don’t show up? 😩

I am so glad keeping my soil healthy for next year’s gorgeous blooms has a fringe benefit of providing me with nutrient dense food!🥬
I love calling the spinach and kale in the hoophouse my “cover crop”.
Keeping the soil in the hoophouse covered with plants that are green and growing are essential to its soil.
A little secret about it (dirt if you will)😆 is that it never sleeps. The soil has microbes (think worms and baby bugs) that need to eat to survive. Since it never gets cold enough for them to hibernate, they stay active all winter.
This means they need food. Did you know that plants exude sugars from their roots??? Who doesn’t love sugar! 🍪
Green growing plants =happy soil life 🤗
