The 2024 NPC Upstate Classic is representative of the journey every athlete has to take to get to stage

They have a goal
They have a plan
The execute the plan to the letter
And then it all falls apart

You can either give up or you can flip adversity the bird and press on.

I want to thank all of the athletes, spectators, sponsors and staff for making the 2024 NPC Upstate Classic what it turned out to be.

2 hours before tanning was to start on Friday the venue closed. A massive hurricane hit the mountains. Read that again …. A hurricane hit the mountains.

What are our options?
- cancel
- move dates
- move venue

After speaking with numerous athletes and coaches Tres and I decided to move the venue. We moved an hour and a half away to Columbia.

This was about as unconventional as it could get

Tiny stage
Tanning room pipe and drape
5 year old vinyl banner from my warehouse
Pandora music on a karaoke machine
No stage lights
Tanning staff with cellphone lights jammed in their tank tops making it happen

What was the outcome? Extremely happy athletes. 20 + weeks of dieting not wasted.

This was the first show for many athletes. Hopefully what these athletes walked away with is seeing first hand why the NPC is #1. We will move mountains to make our athletes have The Ultimate Competitor experience

In all this though we cannot forget the circumstances surrounding all of this. Our friends and neighbors were victims of a catastrophic storm that will take months and millions of dollars to remedy.

Thank you to everyone who made this happen. Happy athletes celebrating their journey. That’s the goal and I think we accomplished that .

The 2024 NPC Upstate Classic is on!!!!!

After speaking with numerous athletes, they would like to see the event continue.

We were fortunate to have the Courtyard Marriott come to save the day.

We will make this happen for sure!!!

Unfortunately when dealing with unforeseen acts of God there is little we can do other than improvise, adapt and overcome.

We will operate this show similar to how we operated during the pandemic.

We will start our event at 2pm.

Prejudging will happen first. We wil go through all divisions the same as we would if we started at 9.

After Prejudging we will have a 30 minute intermission.

We will then begin finals.

The only difference in operation vs how we would have operated is that we will be starting at 2pm instead of 10am.

TANNING: Men & Women at 7am. I will send out a schedule shortly. We will have dedicated spaces assigned for men and women. Men and Women WILL NOT be tanning together but will operate 2 spaces.

CHECKINS: Checkins will be at the hotel in the prefunction space at 12pm.

I know how hard you all have worked and for anyone who knows me, you know how much I appreciate you being here.

I drove from Spartanburg to Columbia this afternoon and the roads are clear.

Unfortunately Spartanburg offered no idea on when power would be restored and of course they are working to restore to emergency services first
