The evening at the Frances J Bright Women’s Club 55th Debuntant Cotillion Ball was one of sheer elegance, where I witnessed my goddaughter make her debut in society. As she glided gracefully across the dance floor, her poise was undeniable. The floral bouquet I designed for her beautifully accentuated the occasion, enhancing the moment she was deservedly crowned Miss Debutante. Congratulations Lady Alaina!!

Creating this balloon display was a rollercoaster of emotions. You wouldn’t believe the effort it took to craft this stunning balloon garland backdrop for a wedding photoshoot. While I usually stick to my trusted brand of balloons, I opted for these vibrant fuchsia ones based on a video recommendation of another balloon artist. The fuschia balloons matched the color scheme perfectly. However, my experience turned into a nightmare. These balloons lacked flexibility and were of poor latex quality. They stuck together and burst at the slightest touch, costing me time, money, and peace of mind. Let me be crystal clear: when I work for a client, I insist on using high-quality balloons to avoid any risk of disappointment. In this case, because it was not for clients, I chose a different brand for the fuchsia balloons to cut costs.

Despite the challenges, the result was a breathtaking balloon backdrop for the photoshoot.

My lessons learned:

1. Always prioritize quality over cost when creating installations, especially for important events like weddings.
2. Don’t compromise on your materials, as low-quality items can lead to stress and disappointment.
3. Rely on your trusted sources and experience when selecting materials rather than following others mindlessly.
4. Learn from your mistakes and prioritize professionalism in your work.
5. Client satisfaction should be your top priority, which means using high-quality materials to ensure a successful outcome.
6. Despite the challenges, perseverance and creativity can produce a beautiful final product.
7. Remember that your reputation as an artist is built on consistently delivering high-quality work.
