Ready for summer to end You?

I learned today that Ranunculus is a member of the Buttercup family. It’s name is a Latin derivative for the word ‘frog’ referring to the swampy areas this flower can often be found.

Flowers don’t change themselves to appease people and neither should you. What makes you different is the artistry of Gods creation.

I’m so grateful to have been reminded of this today.

I R I S

Sweet, Iridaceae takes many forms, shapes and colors. An elder amongst cultivated blooms.

I began to appreciate its fringe like beauty when living within a valley of the Appalachian Mountains. The first home my husband and I occupied as a married couple was graced with its bearded variety.

Named after a Greek goddess, Iris is said to carry messages from ancient gods, serving as “the eye of heaven.”

Some cultures refers to Iris as the “flower of light.”

Early journal documentation by William Bartram from 1792 indicates Indigenous Native Americans occupying East and West Florida grew small batches to aid stomach aches, sores and venomous bites.

“O flower-de-luce, bloom on, let the river
linger to kiss thy feet!

O flower of song, bloom on, and make forever the world more fair and sweet.”

— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Getting through these tough times by pouring my heart into creation.

It was such an honor to collaborate with such a talented photographer on today’s shoot.

I can’t be the only one ready to get out of the house and just create. ⁣
In all of the uncertainty, the one thing that I’ll always have is the love for my art and my craft. ⁣

AND the love for my clients. Every single one of them.⁣
We thank you, to every bride, past and present, who has reached out during this time to lift us up. ⁣

We are all in this together. ❤️ ⁣

I don't have the right words or divine wisdom to shed. I don't have a solution for the sickness, or the collective grief felt.

All I can offer the world at this moment is my love and flowers.

You are not alone in how you are feeling. If you need to talk, I am here.

I'm obsessed with the look pulled together for a moody bohemian-inspired bridal shoot this past weekend!

As a new designer, I was completely overwhelmed with all the planning involved and had no idea how I'd pull it off with my budget of $300. It is amazing what you can do with a little determination and optimism.

Featured here is my sis-in-law .moorefield19 sporting gorgeous earrings from local designer , velvet layered kimono from local fav store , and the in dreams maxi dress from . To learn some basic photography skills, I turned to for their online "How to Photograph Flowers" course. I can't wait to share more photo's from the entire shoot.

Some lessons learned were:
1. practice - practice - practice; it is essential for growth and something new is learned every time.

2. If using a lot of roses, order to come in 5 days before you need to arrange them. The Yellow Mustard roses used didn't open all the way and it totally threw off my initial idea.

3. Don't wait until the day of to design - I thought I could wing it since I work well under pressure, but honestly; I was rushed and stressed out.

4. Husbands make the best production assistants - thanks .

----
BTW: if you are still reading and live/know anyone in , I am looking for creators who would like to collaborate on a larger styled shoot with myself and an incredible photographer. We are in need of a stylist, makeup/hair artist, and male model. Looking to shoot early March.

When I originally created Scentient Botanicals, I wasn't sure what my vision for this page was. I knew I wanted to share my love for flowers, and herbal creations but I didn't realize how hard it would be to put all of myself out there as a small business owner. 🌸

Along, the way I felt as though I lost my voice, and that you as a follower wouldn't want to read about what weighs heavy on my heart. A friend recently told me to be genuine and to me, this means sharing the rose and thorns - the interworking of what makes me - me.

In general, I am not a person who enjoys a fluffy conversation. I want to know what you are passionate about, where your worst fears lay, and what contributions you bring to our world. The past few months have been of introspection. As humans, we go through cycles of growth and I have begun a new phase of mental clarity and expansion.

While this page will remain dedicated to botanical endeavors, I look forward to bearing my heart and soul. It is my intention to hopefully inspire you to dig deep and uncover your intuitive connection to purpose, nature, and spirit. 🖤

Our days were slowly transitioning from that of mother winter. The morning was overcast yet full of hope. From a distance, I could hear the mummers of mothers rushing their daughters off to class.
〰️
The week prior my life had turned upside down. I wasn't sure how I would pull through the transition I suddenly found myself in.
•
Uncertainty.
•
All I could do is surrender. I let go of the dread bearing down on my shoulders and found myself following the buzz of a bee nearby.

It led me to the cove of our cities inner greenway. I found peace from the bustling brook now directly in front of me.

Entranced, I wandered to the edge of the creek bed and found a barrier of Lilac bushes. Beneath the sheath of buttery white petals, wild strawberries began to bud.
〰️
As I caressed the lilac blooms, I couldn't help but notice they too were in a similar state of transition. Their color faded from the once luminous white to soft petal pink. It was then that I saw myself reflected in the spirit of Lilac.
•
Her message came through loud and clear.
•
"LET GO OF THE PAST. SHUT THE DOOR AND MOVE EFFORTLESSLY INTO THE PORTAL OF THE PRESENT."

The love of flowers.

Scentient Botanicals was founded by herbalist and nature lover, Shawna Cason. The name Scentient Botanicals was created based on the belief that flowers can both feel and enhance energy. Studies have shown flowers possess the capacity to create feelings of happiness, improve memory, and heal imbalances within the bodies energetic field.

What first started out as a hobby has evolved into an ongoing project of creating intentional floral designs for personal and wedding needs. Inspired by the seasons, moon cycle, and celestial events; herbal products for self-care are produced out of moments of divine inspiration and are sold in small batches.
