A year ago yesterday 8-17-23, our granddaughter Kallista attended her first practice for recreational soccer and a year later to the day, she played in her first tournament with her new team The West Sac Roots. As most know she tried out in May for the competitive team and made the team. We are so proud of her! ⚽️❤️⚽️

We are excited about the upcoming season. She has some awesome coaches and she really enjoys playing with her new team. ❤️

This is a throwback, yes I know It's Tuesday but it's been a while since I've shot the sunset and even longer since I've made it to Old Sac for sunset.

The truth of the matter, I have been itching to get out. We had some cloudy looking days recently and I was all geared up for a great sunset and if you know me, you know I love clouds in my sunsets; however by the time sunset rolled around the clouds magically disappeared. So I gave up and decided to share one from March 2023

Late post!!

It's August and that means soccer season is upon us.⚽️

Last Saturday was my granddaughter's first game with her new team, The West Sac Roots! They scrimmage against Elk Grove and although they lost, the girls played great and my granddaughter had an assist. She is excited about this new chapter in soccer ❤️

The season officially kicks off on August 24th; however the girls will play in tournament the weekend of August 17th.

More than a handful of my favorites from the session I had this past Sunday with the Muniz Family. This was such a fun session. I met the Muniz Family last year during soccer season. Their oldest daughter was on the same team with my granddaughter.

Today marks the 11 year transplant anniversary! Praise God my husband is still here, we are so grateful and blessed. We love Kathy McCloud and her unselfish act of love. She is and will always be our livng angel. ❤️

As of today my husband is still thriving despite some not so promising news we received last fall about the status of his kidney 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Please keep him in prayer and pray he stays healthy and his kidney function stays stable. 🙏🏽

They anticipate he will need another transplant in about 3-5 years. He is on the waiting list with UCD now, so if you or anyone you know wants to be a living donor please contact us, he is on the list but if a living donor comes forward sooner who is a match and passes health screening, they can bypass the wait. You can also reach out to Kathy and ask questions, she will be happy to share her of experience.🙏🏽

I am simply devastated! And my heart is broken for Sabrina. Please please pray for her and her family. She has endured the pain of losing her husband Sean 4 years ago and now one of her sons🙏🏽

I took pictures of Caeden and his brothers when they played for WSLL, got to know the family. Just heartbreaking 💔

DOUBLE TRAGEDY: A 25-year-old Oakland firefighter drowned early Thursday morning in San Diego. His mother, Sabrina Laffan, identified him to KTVU as Caeden Laffan. She was too heartbroken to say more. He is pictured here with his father, the late Oakland Assistant Fire Chief Sean Laffan, who died in 2020 of a heart attack.

The heat is on, but we have also had a couple of fires in the surrounding area, which gives us the smokey sunset effect.

I am praying that the fires will be 100% contained soon, and no one is harmed or hurt.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Heavenly Father's Day to my dad! This was the last picture we took together. It was September 21, 2012, and I had just picked him up from the hospital. I said hey dad, let's take a picture. Little did I know it would be the last one and he would be gone a month later. 💔🙏🏽

Cherish your parents and savor the memories. I'm so thankful I had a photographers mind at a young age and as I got older, I am still to this day making sure my family takes pictures and constantly expressing to my granddaughters the importance of them. That's all we have left in visual form when our loved ones are no longer here.🙏🏽

It's throwback Thursday!
8-23-2015 7:49 pm. Tripod and self timer it's all about Connecting the Dots!

I have always said my photography was my therapy and it wasn't until I heard a very good therapist explain in detail why and why landscape photography is especially therapeutic. It all makes sense now❤️📸

Moral of this story get out and click the shutter in nature for therapy. Tried and true.🙌🏽

Ironically I also used a similar shot from that same day to create a composite as if I was looking out at my dad(who passed in 2012) and he was smiling back at me. That is one of my cherished composites. That's when I first started playing around with composites.

When I said full circle, I meant full circle.

From 2007-2012, I took pictures of the youth in West Sacramento (football, baseball, softball, and high school sports), and one of the youth included Javier Martinez. His mom Veronica and I became friends and got to know each other well over the years. There is also family history with football and softball. I will add couple pictures in the comments of those cherished memories.

Fast forward to a week or so ago, I had the pleasure of taking pictures of Javi's kids who are now playing little league. ⚾️❤️

It has been 6 months since I've truly gotten out to chase the sunset and if felt great.

Also first time I've used my new Nikon Z6ii to get out there in a zone to chase the light. Well, it's not new anymore, I've had it for awhile but been using it for soccer. 📷😊

Meant to share last night!

Last Hurrah for the West Sac Mystics! Yesterday the West Sac Mystics played in The Memorial Day Bash 2024, a one day tournament in Orangevale

They went undefeated through 3 games, made it to the finals and drop 3-2 to Rosemont SC. The girls were down 2-0 and came back to tie the game. The end of regulation ended in a tie. Each team got 3 opportunities to kick a penalty kick and in the end we lost on a penalty kick.

So very proud of these girls! ⚽️❤️

This was a bittersweet ending to what had been an awesome spring season. Some of the girls, including my granddaughter will age out of the division and so the team will be split up. These girls are like my babies and I plan to follow them for as long as God gives me breath and the abilities.
