We’re often asked what we celebrate and then it’s followed up by how we celebrate! Growing up we celebrated it all. I’d someone was having a not so great day we made it into a relaxing spa day to celebrate togetherness. There’s nothing like being together with the people who feel like home! OMG! It’s National Picnic Day!

S T O R Y. T I M E ☀️
My family began this business last summer. It began as a family who grew up celebrating literally everything. It was our way of bonding and making sure we stayed close after the passing of my father unexpectedly. It was a way to bring joy to occasions that felt like they could easily turn to sorrow longing for the presence of those no longer with us! Our family was large! I was the oldest of 7 and parks were free haha! It was an easy way to be outside with family and still have yummy foods and desserts away from home to gather with! They weren’t as glamorous as what we’ve turned them into now but they’re just as memorable! That’s a little glimpse into the story and meaning of Modern Story Event Co! Woman founded and black owned although we welcome everyone and my husband is always behind the scenes helping bring the visions to life. Thank you for anyone that’s worked with us or supported us by a like, share and event!

"Meet Marcy: A Strong and Resilient Mother
Marcy persevered through the unexpected passing of her husband 22 years ago, leaving her with seven children to care for, ranging in age from 15 months to 15 years. As a stay-at-home mom, she had to return to work to support her family. Thanks to her perseverance and tech background, she overcame numerous challenges and ascended to the rank of Technology Manager. Today, Marcy is not only celebrating her own career success, but also the graduation and dream job placements of all seven of her children. She is a true inspiration and proof that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Congratulations, Marcy!

One thing we’re gonna do is have fun and a lot of it! Dropping this series of “How we like to celebrate” and giving you some ideas if you’re wanting to turn up the fun for your own celebrations!

We decided there’s too many things to do to be bored and Karis wanted a unique celebration. We decided to get dressed up as old Grannies and hit the town doing some of her favorite things for her birthday! Brunch, a stop to for some seasonal and pretty macarons, for some new reads, next for a new plant baby and last checked out a new sustainable shop where you could fill reusable containers with soap and hand lotions. We had others wanting to join the crew and it was nothing short of a good old silly time! Would you do this?? How do we look as grannies? 😂👵🏾👵🏽Tag your besties!

Within our family, none of our paths have been traditional and yet we've found both beauty and joy in them.

I began the vision of Modern Story as an intimate way to bring your favorite people together. A time stamp. I love when good food, good decor and good people meet!

Growing up without my father taught me so many things I cling onto dearly and one of which is appreciating, supporting and not taking life for granted because it can be gone in an instant!

Modern Story isn’t just about the food or the decor- it’s about you! It’s about your story. It’s about the story of why we are celebrating, it’s about what you’ve accomplished or overcame, it’s about showing appreciation of your life or someone else’s life just because and it’s about bringing those close to you to celebrate those moments. Does it really get much better than that?

The elevated and trendy decor, & mouth watering food is the icing on the cake!
