Eventful At Locust Grove is an event venue in Historic Weston, MO. Our venue is located in the rolling hills of Weston, MO. Why change a good thing?

We offer a rustically elegant backdrop for your wedding, reception, party, reunion or corporate event. We are a mother daughter duo, Kate Parsons and Christy Shafer. We offer beautiful garden weddings in Kate’s English style garden which sits next to a field that is either planted in corn or soybeans (both are gorgeous!). Then we have an open air structure up there, the lattice house, where you ca

n host your cocktail hour. Afterwards, down to our beautiful reception hall for dinner and dancing. The space is what we like to call rustically elegant. It features lots of chandeliers, vintage white columns, upholstered burlap walls, and feature walls made of old vintage painted doors and another of old ceiling tins. We also have a chalk wall that you can customize. We mixed in a 10’ zinc topped industrial table for our buffet table. And in the front sitting area a Chesterfield sofa and club chairs. The building sits on 78 acres next door to Kate's antebellum home. The original farm and home were named Locust Grove. We are able to accommodate a sit down dinner of up to 200 people. We have a 20X30 stained concrete patio for you and your guests to enjoy. There is a bar made from the front of an old confessional booth, burlap upholstered walls, chandeliers, old columns, lots of wonderful details to make your event special. We have an open catering policy (pick whoever you like!). Our catering kitchen is quite large, garage door load in to make it easy (caterers love it), ice machine, commercial fridge, warmer and work space. Tables and white padded folding chairs, linens for all the guest tables, 150 colored napkins of your choice, lots of free decor, and some coordination services come with the rental of the facility. This late April wedding was a stunner!!! The most gorgeous flowers done by , great food, colorful spring wedding palette, and just lots of fun!!! Even the groom wore color - no neutral tux for him - check out his awesome green suit. Kelsey, the bride, looked like old Hollywood to me - so glamorous! The whole bridal party wore different colors as well - the guys wearing ties matching their es**rt. 🩷🧡💛🩵💙💚 Congrats to the Bessmers!!

This is a sneak peek of a wedding we just had that was super fun. Ever been to a surprise wedding??? The guests all came thinking it was an engagement party. Plan to join us for a fun night out for our Texas Hold 'Em poker night this Saturday, March 9th! Its $40 for advanced tickets ($50 at the door) and that gets you a seat at the table and opening chips to play, something yummy to eat and drink (cash bar available too) and all for a great cause that helps our kids and teachers at West Platte though the West Platte Education Foundation. A pretty affordable and fun night out and you might come home a big winner!!!

Hannah and Kyle were so fun and I adored Hannah's aesthetic. Great color scheme, boho style for sure, some vintage glassware in amber tones, mismatched bridesmaids dresses in rusts, sages and blue grays, all very cool. Hannah has some amazing body art and decided it would be fun to have a tattoo bar for their guests. There were lots to choose from and with them being temporary tattoos, there were "no ragrats". 🙂 Sure, all the groomsmen had face tatts by end of the night but the formal pics were done and they were having a blast. My very favorite was the custom heart tattoo that was emblazoned with "Hannah + Kyle". It matched some fun heart shaped glasses that they wore late night. It was so cute and original and perfect for this couple. Make your wedding a true reflection of yourself and have some fun!!!

This summer wedding was a peach (bellini)! Brianna and Chase had a day time wedding with brunch and a champagne bar. Brianna made her own bouquet from sola wood and hand dyed the flowers to match her AMAZING VEIL!! So much color and handwork - hundreds of colorful embroidered flowers down the long veil and the forever bouquet to match! Chase was dressed in a light summer tan suit and looked like a guy who's heart had been stolen. We had a perfect summer day and were so happy to have been a part of the beginning of their story as Mr. and Mrs. Everly.

We had some Star Wars fans get married here this fall - they even had a light saber send off!! Our first and it was really pretty! Two of their grooms men surprised the couple and changed into Star Wars character costumes to lead the way for the send off. It was super cute!! ALL THIS TO SAY- WE HAVE HAD A STELLAR (pun intended) DATE COME OPEN - MAY THE FOURTH!!! (A Saturday this year) Tell all your Star Wars friends to hit me up!!! !!!

This was one of our sweet fall weddings! Nikki and Frank were so easy and fun to work with. We loved the boys in tweed and the girls in emerald green. Not County Kerry but County Platte. 🍀 Lizzy is is Frank’s darling red headed daughter and they have Gideon together who had the sparkliest green eyes and mischievous grin. This sweet blended family had a great day together and danced the night away. They had a gourmet pizza bar (Weston’s own 640 Pizza & Pints - their last catering gig!) and mini Bundt cakes for dessert. For keen eyed locals - Randy Masoner is a friend of the fam and married them after their officiant fell ill. Weston is full of folks who have many talents!

Dreamy. That’s the word that keeps coming to mind for our last wedding of 2023. We had a this dream wedding right before Christmas. Selena and Steven came all the way from Oahu to have their wedding here. Selena is currently serving in the Navy there and Steven is retired from the Navy. They are living in paradise but they had family back here so a Midwest wedding made the most sense. It’s so like them to be more concerned with what was better and easier for their guests. They are both generous in that way, every detail considered through the lens of would it make it a more enjoyable event for everyone. Selena looked radiant in her off the shoulders white satin gown with cathedral length veil and Steven in his classic black tux looking very handsome - they are goners for each other and you see that in these incredible images. Here are the first glimpses (much more to come) from their amazing winter wedding. (I had to start with the black and whites because of they are…dreamy)

This was my favorite love story all year. I get a lump in my throat when I tell it. Darla and Derek were in their teens when they met by chance for a few days at a school related activity. She was from Iowa and he was from Missouri. They immediately felt sparks for each other and for those few days they were on cloud nine. After returning home, they tried being pen pals for a bit but long distance is hard and Darla ended up getting back together with her old boyfriend who she ended up marrying. They had two sons and had a happy life. When her husband fell ill and passed away she never thought she would find love again and certainly wasn't looking for it. Derek was watching TV one day and saw a clip of the Little Rascals tv show (google it, kids). One of the main character's names was Darla. This got him wondering whatever happened to his first crush with the same name. He googled her name only to see that her husband had passed away. He wrote a condolence note and said he'd always wondered what happened to her and that he was very sorry to hear of her current situation. She took the better part of a year before she responded but when they reconnected it was as if they were those two kids again. Eventually they decided to meet in person in Weston! The butterflies for each other remained after all this time. Some love stories take decades to tell. We were so lucky to have had a small part in telling it. Lorena and Zach were married here at the end of October when the maples leaves were in full golden autumn glory. These pics from .edenphotos captured the light and the love perfectly. Lorena came to the relationship with a daughter named Jada who Zach fell for too - a package deal. A darling blended family. Jada was one of the flower girls. Lorena chose beautiful details for her big day and was an absolute joy to work with - very detail oriented and and great eye for design. Zach has a big heart and we loved him the minute we met him. They make such a perfect match! Best wishes on your new life together, Lorena and Zach! 💕

It was overcast and misty last weekend but warmer than it has been. (Photographers love overcast - so we are loving these pics from !) Hannah and Kyle wanted to keep the outdoor wedding plan so with umbrellas at the ready we went for it and they were able to get married before any real rain started. Hannah has very cool tattoos (see slide 2) so she had a fun tattoo station set up for her guests. She found someone on Etsy to make custom ones that said Hannah & Kyle in a heart. Plus a bunch of other fun ones. There might have been a few face tatts by the end of the night but “no ragrets” bc they washed off in the morning. We loved all the rust, olive, and gray blue bridesmaids dresses, each in a style the that perfectly suited each woman. Beautiful! The groomsmen wore tan suits and olive bow ties while Kyle wore a gray suit and rust bow tie - cute, cute, cute!! It was a very pretty wedding and we couldn’t be happier for these two! 🍁

We have been patiently waiting for sneak peeks from our wedding last weekend. Who’da thought the last week of October would be soooo chilly?! But cold weather couldn’t wipe the huge grins off these two love birds faces! She wasn’t even cold she said - all adrenaline! Then we went inside and were cozy warm the rest of the evening. We loved all the details from this one. She had awesome flowers , sweets made by a her aunt and her cousin decorated the chalk wall. Fancy personalized neon sign with their last name on it - The Herrs. With the perfect hashtag - &herrs Thanks for picking Eventful, Lauren & Jesse!!! We loved it!! 🧡...

Gather round for a tale of two twins (sets). Stephanie is the sister of identical twins. She grows up and meets her soul mate who has kids of his own. Wait for it…twin girls!!! Now Stephanie is a step mom to 13 yr old twins plus two other great kiddos. Im not saying this automatically makes you the best stepmom but in Steph’s case it certainly will. She is such a great person and was a joy to work with, very organized was always quick to say thanks or good job and surrounds herself with people who are very good at what they do did her silk arrangements in the white pumpkins, did the gorge bouquets, did her dessert table - IYKYK and did her photos. We wish Stephanie and Adam and their new big happy family all the happiness in the world. I love a story with a happy ending, don’t you?

These two were literally the sweetest. We got along like peas and carrots. Great stories and interesting lives - I won’t tell you all of them but Joanna’s family was friends with rocker, Jackson Browne’s, and he loaned them a crib which Joanna slept in as a baby. (How’s that for an interesting personal tidbit at a cocktail party!) Brendan has connections to the music biz as well - he worked as a producer and sound engineer in LA and worked with some big names and had some great stories. Their paths never crossed while living in LA but met here in KC with lots in common. So with all these music connections you KNOW their reception was rockin’!! The men all wore Brendan’s Scottish family’s tartan plaid kilts (go Clan McReynolds!) and Joanna looked the part of a blushing Scottish bride (might be her pretty red hair) with her champagne gown with gorgeous lace detailing. The decor was lovely and we were thrilled to have back to do her magic on the chalk wall. They used the whole wall to do a cool seating chart which looked incredible! Good music, good people, gorgeous wedding. We loved getting to know and be a part of this wonderful couple’s best day.

We hosted a very special baby shower last weekend. We first met this darling family for their son, Gabe’s, high school graduation party back in 2014. He was headed to DC for college to study international business and economics. He was a go getter and we joked he’d be running for office someday and I could throw a fundraiser for him. Then he met his true love, Alexis. A beautiful girl from New Jersey. The family came back to Eventful and we got to witness this next chapter in Gabe’s life, a couples bridal shower in 2021. They both got work and relocated to Austin, TX. And this spring his mom, Kristy, called to let us know the good news that Gabe and Alexis were expecting! So our third event was extra special. (Warning: for mother’s who struggle with purging anything sentimental like me - this story will not make you any better. Please stop reading now.) Kristy did a Winnie the Pooh shower with all Gabe’s nursery decor! 🩵 🩵His English great grandmother had given him wellies as a toddler that they stuffed with blue flowers (I’m not not making this up!) Darling Pooh rattles, baby cups, stuffed animals & ceramic statues were centerpieces along with the bubble vases they’d used for his wedding shower. (Again with the things we will never sell at a garage sale) Gabe’s sister, Amelia, free handed Winnie on our chalk wall. His uncle raises bees so of course they had local honey and handmade beehive soaps as favors! It was all so darling. This baby boy is about to hit the jackpot being born into this family. We were so honored to be a small part of this chapter. And anxiously awaiting the next… Vendors: - cake and cake pops. for the beautiful Winnie themed cookies. for the floral arrangements and food.
