Family Tradition: Annual Photo Session 🌿

I met up with Theresa & Kaiya today at Hidden Spruce Christmas Tree Farm. Wild, to be reminded it’s been 13 outdoor portraits sessions - over the years - which all started with maternity! Warms my heart. They have varied between locations and time of year, some even included her best friend ❤️

🌿Farm Spotlight: Hassenegk Acres in Westport!🌿

I love supporting local farms and farm families that grow together. Vanessa and Josh have been taking annual family photos since Harper was 1, she’s now 9! Over the years, they have continue to grow their family farm business and in 2024 they began offering direct sales of their pasture raised meat to customers and businesses in the local community - it’s good! It’s a lot of work, and I am proud of them! I will be on the look out for future farm events, raffles, and more ❤️❤️❤️

**Edited to add: first year offering speciality cuts, prior to this year their meat was only offered by the 1/2 or whole animal **and they are fourth generation** ❤️❤️❤️

🌿2 Years Later: It has been a couple years since their Summer wedding! Dave, Sybil, and their daughter Freya🌿 It’s always good to see them!

Freya is already enjoying her family’s farm-grown vegetables from the garden which doesn’t surprise me at all! The way time flies, pretty soon she will have her own garden!🌿🍅🌿

Married on the Farm: Lexi & Mark were married at Open Gate September 14! I was happy to share my flowers & take the photos that day. It was a couple years ago we met at the Westport Fair in town 💐They honestly couldn’t be better people and I wish them every happiness! ❤️

September has limited availability due to weddings and our harvest sale at Open Gate Farm… buttt there’s a few openings!

October & November are more open. I think the golden hour just before sunset is lovely, but really anytime of day works! Many location options!

It’s Finally Pasture Season for the Animals🩷 There will be some beautiful portrait opportunities these next few months!

It’s true—caring for the animals and plants demands so much of my attention! That said, we welcomed 37 lambs this year 🩷 I’m thrilled to report that lambing season went wonderfully. We had one breach, but I successfully delivered him alive. Remarkably, there were no bottle babies or stillbirths, which I attribute to meeting the high nutritional and mineral needs of the ewes. I was worried they were too fat, which can be an issue, but everything turned out well. This season felt different from last year, and I carried that anxiety with me. Now, it’s a joy to see them in the pastures, and as we approach the two-month mark, they’ll soon be off to their new homes. I always love sharing what I grow and raise 🩷

As of Today: 30 Lambs have been Born at Open Gate Farm! 🌿🐑🌿

Annual Lamb Snuggle Sessions are April 13 + 14 this year! My lambs will be 1-2 weeks old, and at that age they welcome the snuggle. There is currently a few open spots. The 30 minute session, includes 10 digitals to select in the online gallery, and access to my favorite print store.
