Thanks to everyone who helped with lamb goat tag in yesterday evening! Unofficially we have 46 lamb exhibitors and 87 goat exhibitors!

UPDATE: Officially 46 lamb exhibitors tagged in 53 lambs and 88 goat exhibitors tagged in 97 goats.

First tag in for 2025 Fair is in the books. A big thank you to all the volunteers who showed up to help and for everyone’s patience! Almost 6 hours but it’s done! Unofficial numbers are 110 commercial heifer exhibitors and 51 steer exhibitors. Who’s ready to “stirrup” some fun at the Wharton County Youth Fair in a few months??

UPDATE to major crash:

Highway 59 southbound is now open. Please understand it will take time for FM 961, FM 960, and FM 102 to see relief from the congestion.

This will be the last update. Again, Highway 59 is now open going northbound and southbound at the Wharton Airport.

Be careful folks!

(Thursday - 8/22) - AVOID HIGHWAY 59 SOUTHBOUND

Wharton County Sheriff's Office says northbound 59 is open.

Two collisions on Highway 59 within about ¾ of a mile of each other have closed both southbound lanes of 59 near Wharton Regional Airport.

The first wreck was just after 6AM in the southbound lane of 59.

And at 6:40AM, an accident was toned out, ALSO in the southbound lane with a major accident involving four 18 wheelers. At least one person is dead, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Traffic going south on 59 will be exiting at FM 961 south of Wharton. All traffic will be going through the fairgrounds.
