Westchester African-American Heritage Celebration Coalition, Inc. The African-American Festival brings the community together to celebrate our rich history. John H. Harmon.

The Coalition is a group composed of various community leaders and organizations of African-American descent and origin working together to present the African-American experience. The history of the African-American Heritage Day Program is an outgrowth of the original PANORAMA program that was held at the Westchester County Center for a number of years. It was organized in 1969 by the Afro-Americ

an Cultural Foundation, under the leadership and guidance of its founder, the late Mr. A man with a great passion for education, he had a vision to preserve and showcase the contributions of African-Americans here in Westchester County and worldwide. From the early 1980's until present, The African-American Heritage Day Coalition and the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation have cosponsored the event at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla, NY. Many volunteers over the years have made this and other programs a success and we are extremely grateful for their dedication and commitment. The Coalition maintains its tradition of preserving our cultural heritage by presenting entertainment and programs representative of African values and culture. We also pay homage to the faith of our ancestors, which reminds us that we have the responsibility to ensure that their struggle is not forgotten. We must re-commit ourselves to the glorious duty of restoring our families, our neighbor-hoods and our people to their historical greatness.
