Back from a bit of a hiatus, here to talk about the post holiday chill and how floristry takes advantage of present offerings. As we pack up the holiday cheer for another year, no need to rush right into Spring. For many of us, Winter and all of its hygge coziness will be with us for awhile. Embrace it, I say!

Here is an arrangement design that continues use of evergreens in the foliage mix. Noel? No. Seasonal? Yes. It's completely appropriate to keep pining away. 😍🌲

I love the juxtaposition of soft, flowy, gestural local blooms paired with a clean-lined contemporary, mass produced vessel. I'm a juxtaposition and contrast kind of gal. That goes for people too. It's good to mix stark opposites. That's how you learn from each other. ✌️💕🌸

Weekly office flowers are a trick. They need to last for 7 days, look interesting, reflect the brand. This is a chic look using long lasting everyday blooms. Color selection, massed blooms in place of foliage, greenery as design element within the vase will hold just enough interest to lobby visitors.

Here's a great way to support flower farmers at your favorite weekly markets:
1. Buy the biggest bouquet you can find. Pro tip: see if the vendor has loose blooms to make up your own composition - I do this every week.

2. Give them a generous tip. This is very hard work and our communities need robust local flower resources.

3. Walk from one end of the market to the next displaying your gorgeous blooms. You will encounter at least 2 people that comment, so direct them to the flower booth. 👍💐

4. Leave the market with a happy feeling in your heart. 💕🌸

Celebrating May 1 with vintage vessel and vivid violas from Fernabelle Acres.
My Brooklyn daughter gifted me this sweet pitcher set from a vintage shop in her neighborhood - Salt and Lizard. She knows her mama likes these blue and white pieces.
We don’t typically think of violas as cut flowers, but they are performing beautifully, with sturdy stems in pin frog. Local blooms have a reputation of being less resilient than their shipped in counterparts. That isn’t always the case. Improved vaselife comes with avoiding sunny windows and heat sources, adding food according to packet instructions, and routinely changing out the water. Nurturing your investment brings rewards with longevity.

Happy Earth Day 🌎 and welcome to
Fill Your Day With Flowers! I’ve created this spot because there are wonderful things happening with floristry and amazing floral artists across the globe that I think flower lovers would enjoy learning about. I see spectacular work daily on my social feeds but the average consumer does not. I want to share this with you! 🌸

Nothing to buy here (except some super fun spirit wear coming soon!). This is all content - beautiful photos, how to videos, florist and flower farm visits - meant to bring you joy each and every day.

There is so much more to say about this idea that’s been ruminating for the past 5 years, and I’ll explain more of my Why tomorrow. For now, I encourage you to do something good for the planet today and find a way to incorporate beautiful blooms. It will make you feel great, promise! 🌷
