Whites Creek Flower Farm

We grow unusual varieties of field-grown favorites in addition to many natives and heirlooms. We use permaculture growing techniques, and while we are not currently certified organic, we use all the best practices of organic growing methods. We are very concerned about carbon footprint and are constantly streamlining our growing methods. We do weddings, special events, sell by the bucket, sell at

farmer's markets, and sell to florists and designers. We also offer on-farm events, workshops, and tours.

Today ID-ed my 49th butterfly to visit Whites Creek Flower Farm. I've been looking for this one for years now and had almost given up hope, when today it fluttered up in front of me, right in front of our house! And for you Hackberry haters out there, this gorgeous butterfly uses Hackberry trees as host plants. They nectar on the fresh spring sap that is now rising. What a happy sign of spring and a confirmation of the way we've decided to manage our property here.

Transplanting these beauties (hellebores, or Lenten rose) up around the house so I can enjoy them there. 40 more to go, haha! Really kinda happy I won’t be cutting the blooms for bouquets any more. I can just enjoy them in their natural environment.

Hello Flower Friends!

Even though I'm not actively growing commercial cut flowers anymore, I am going to use this page to promote interesting tidbits about ecology and gardening.

Soon I also plan to start posting about turning the former cut flower farm into a native species sanctuary.
