Knot Your Average Events let's create magic through your love story
Allow us to tie up all of your loose ends! Allow us to tie up all of your loose ends.

I became a wedding coordinator because my mother missed everything at my first wedding because she was trying to be my everything (decorator, caterer, coordinator). I vowed I wouldn't let another miss that special moment in her daughter's life.....and Knot Your Average Events was born....

We love taking the time to listen to our couple’s love story and then designing their day to reflect them inc

luding their past, present, future and family traditions & culture. We love creating a lifetime of memories not just a once in a lifetime moment. That’s why we go beyond the aisle and offer romantic Caribbean adventures and experience for honeymoons and anniversaries too.

💰💍 BUDGET-FRIENDLY OR JUST CHEAP? Let’s talk about it! 🎤⬇️
We keep seeing posts about budget-friendly, simple, elegant, and straight-up cheap weddings… but let’s be real: NO vendor wants to be called cheap & cheerful! 🚫💸

If you’re trying to save money, here’s how you can make it work without sacrificing the magic:
✨ Guest Count Matters! Keep it intimate—don’t invite 200 people! 🙅‍♀️🎟️
✨ Ditch the Fancy Dinnerware. Plastic plates over China/glass = big savings! 🍽️💡
✨ Cut the Bar. (Yes, it hurts, but your wallet will thank you! 🍹❌)
✨ Shorten the Day. Less time = fewer vendor hours = more $$ saved! ⏳💰

Think outside the ballroom!
🏞️ Public parks & restaurants that charge by the hour? YES! One of our couples is tying the knot at an arcade! 🎮🎉

📅 Off-days = BIG savings! Consider Monday-Thursday weddings. 🗓️✨

❄️🔥 Off-season steals! January, July, August = major deals. 💵💍

⛪ Church Weddings – Many only ask for a small donation & cleanup fee. 🙏💒

PS, as much as I LOVE THEM!! trust me, it's all about the details, but if you don't have the budget for it ... you don't HAVE TO HAVE= a photo booth, party favors, customized napkins/signs, programs, special effects... save that money for an event manager, a good dj, a professional photo/video team, and a legal Officiant
and
Remember, no alcohol. You don't have to have transportation either...

Think about what's MOST important to you!
What is your nonnegotiable 🤔

Let’s be real—a $15K wedding for 150 guests with a full bar, dinner, top DJ, and an experienced photo/video team isn’t happening. BUT you can have a simple, elegant day that’s all about YOU! ✨

This is why so many couples are:
💍 Eloping
💍 Choosing a destination wedding (avg. $15K for wedding + honeymoon!)
💍 Waiting 2 years & saving (avg. $36K for a dream wedding in NC)
💍 Creating unique, personal experiences instead!

No matter how you say "I do," make sure it's about YOU! 💕 The rest is just magic & memories. ✨

Wedding Coordination: More Than Just a Price Tag

We know that everyone starts somewhere, and there will always be someone who charges less. But before you choose based on price alone, ask yourself: Are you comparing apples to apples?

I recently spoke with a potential client who mentioned we were $500 more than another planner she was considering. My response? Make sure you’re asking the right questions! Lower prices often mean fewer services, less experience, less staff, or a lack of proper preparation.

Here’s what you should ask any potential wedding coordinator:

✅ Is this their full-time career or a side hustle?
Do you want to be a priority or squeezed into an already busy schedule?

✅ Are they certified and educated in wedding planning?
Experience and training matter when handling high-stakes events.

✅ How many weddings/events have they coordinated?
A track record of success shows they can handle the unexpected.

✅ How many staff members will they have on-site?
A solid team ensures smooth setup, crowd management, and breakdown.

✅ Will they assist with setting up personal décor and vendor coordination?
Not all planners offer full-service setup—know what you're paying for.

✅ Will they stay all day or leave after cake cutting?
Some charge less because they leave early. But if something goes wrong after they’re gone, are they really saving you money?

✅ Are they insured?
Many venues require proof of insurance—make sure your planner has it!

✅ Are they CPR and First Aid certified?
Emergencies happen. Will they know what to do?

✅ Do they have experience handling weather issues?
If your wedding is outdoors or during hurricane season, experience is key!

The Truth: A professional planner doesn’t just cost money—they save you money. They’ll connect you with trusted vendors, negotiate better deals, and prevent costly mistakes. Not to mention, they’ll save you time and stress!

We know that some couples will choose a lower-cost option. But when you invest in a seasoned professional, you're getting more than just coordination—you’re getting peace of mind, expertise, and a flawless wedding day.

Choose wisely. Your wedding day deserves it.

We are starting something new...
Test drive your honeymoon ✨️
Say what???

Absolutely wedding planning is A LOT
And definitely could be stressful if you don't have me doing your wedding just saying...

But even if you have everything planned and everything is going to set plan...
It's great to Take a break, A vacation, Breathe, Relax, reset And remember, why you're getting married in the first place...

It's great to have a break, that's not talking... Wedding every other word...

So we are super excited that one of our couples wanted to test drive their honeymoon...

They wanted to see what sandals was all about
Taste the food, check out things they could have their butler do while getting used to having said butler...

We planned a little fun so they could let loose and go swim w/ Some dolphins and then relax with a couple's massage..

Plus we set up an amazing engagement photo shoot at sunset (i can't wait to see those photos)

Marrying your life partner= It's all about creating experiences and memories that will last a lifetime... don't sweat the small stuff...

And definitely. Plan a getaway at some point during your wedding planning.
You won't regret it...

And we're here to help plan that too with our sister company

An elopement is typically an intimate ceremony with just the couple (or a very small group, usually under 10 guests). It’s often planned in a shorter time frame—sometimes just weeks or even days in advance—and focuses solely on the couple’s vows and commitment without the traditional wedding elements like a reception, first dance, or large guest list. Elopements can take place anywhere, from a courthouse to a scenic destination.

An intimate wedding, on the other hand, still embraces a smaller guest count (typically 10-50 guests) but includes more traditional wedding elements like a ceremony, reception, and sometimes even a first dance, cake cutting, or toasts. These weddings often require more planning (several months to a year) and include a structured timeline while keeping things personal and meaningful.

Both options allow couples to celebrate in a way that feels right for them—whether it's a spontaneous, private moment or a small yet detailed gathering with loved ones!

✨ Team Lunch & Goal Setting ✨

Today, our Knot Your Average Events lead team event managers gathered for a much-needed luncheon at The Cutting Board—fueling up on delicious food while setting our intentions for an amazing year ahead!

We reflected on our goals, planned for some incredible events, and celebrated what truly makes our team stand out—our communication and family dynamic. The way we support, inspire, and encourage one another outside of events makes every wedding and celebration feel like a family reunion every weekend!

Huge thanks to The Cutting Board for hosting us in one of their private dining rooms! If you're looking for a great event space, they have 3-4 private rooms—perfect for meetings, celebrations, and more.

✨ What we're looking forward to this year:
✅ Producing unforgettable weddings & events
✅ Strengthening our vendor partnerships
✅ Creating more seamless client experiences
✅ Continuing to grow as a team & a family

Cheers to an exciting year ahead!

What are you receiving from your vendors. ..
Service vs. Hospitality: What’s the Difference?

1. Service is transactional. Hospitality is personal.
• Service is checking in a guest quickly. Hospitality is remembering their name and welcoming them like an old friend.

2. Service is following steps. Hospitality is anticipating needs.
• Service is delivering a meal on time. Hospitality is noticing a guest’s preference and suggesting their favorite dish before they even ask.

3. Service is reactive. Hospitality is proactive.
• Service is handling a complaint professionally. Hospitality is preventing the issue before it arises by understanding guest expectations.

4. Service is standardized. Hospitality is emotional.
• Service ensures a clean room. Hospitality ensures the guest feels at home by adding thoughtful personal touches.

5. Service is an expectation. Hospitality is what makes a brand unforgettable.
• Every hotel provides service, but hospitality is what guests remember—and why they return.

Why It Matters

Luxury hospitality isn’t just about speed and efficiency—it’s about making guests feel truly cared for. When hotels embed hospitality into their service standards, they create experiences that leave lasting emotional impressions.

This also goes for wedding & event professionals... there's a reason some cost more than others... because they aren't taking on double to provide their income, instead they take on less, focus on those few creating guest experiences and client relationships...

Are you just a number to them?
Do they check in on you or wait 2 weeks prior to your date...

what kind of experience do you want to FEEL?

Our Story

Hmmmmm…who am I? I’ve been called the wedding whisper, coordinating ninja, a magician just to name a few of my nicknames but the reality is I’m just a down to Earth girl raised in a small town that has big dreams. Although they say “I clean up nicely” I’m most comfortable in a pair of holey jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops. I love planning local events but if you give me a few extra days off you can find me on the beach in the Caribbean somewhere. While I’m the proud momma of two adorable pups, it’s our 6lb office manager (aka Bailey) has stolen my heart. She will greet you at the door and climb up in your lap to take a nap during our consultations. We truly say you become family once your event becomes a part of our planning line up.

When it comes to our event designs, we think outside of the box. I personally prefer booking a venue that speaks our couples first looking at the elements that it offers and go from there. We love mixing textures and layers when it comes to linens (FYI, all white linens are for all white parties… if you are planning on wearing a “white” dress…you become a rental; shouldn’t you stand out?). Your centerpieces do not have to be flowers (although we love a beautiful floral design) but let’s get creative with layout and details). Let’s think outside of the box. Design, Entertainment and Food & Beverage is what sets the tone for your event. Linens and Lighting will set the mood, entertainment will keep your guests attention while you’re making your rounds and/or just enjoying being a guest… and the happiest guests have food and beverage options throughout the entire day…. Not just at meal time. Let’s create an experience not an event…

How do I create an experience? It’s through my nearly 20 years of events and education. I am one of 57 Master Wedding Planners in the World. I am partnered with Sandals so we assist with honeymoons, destination weddings, anniversary trips, and/or Caribbean getaways.

I can assist you in creating signature drinks because I’ve been a professional mixologist for nearly two decades and bartended from the coast to my hometown. I am multi-certified through the Association of Bridal Consultants, The Bridal Society, Beverly Clark Hospitality, and Sandals.
