WSU Tech's National Institute of Culinary and Hospitality Education (NICHE) in downtown ICT NICHE houses the WSU Tech Culinary Arts program.

The National Institute for Culinary and Hospitality Education (NICHE), managed by WSU Tech, is a multifaceted entity combining innovative curriculum with business operations to create synergistic learning outcomes for students and a highly skilled and passionate workforce that will not only benefit NICHE but Wichita itself. Our mission is to celebrate and enhance our culinary landscape and our fou

nding principles are sustainability, accessibility and innovation. Throughout their two-year associates program, our students receive over one thousand hours of culinary lab instruction (actual time in the kitchen). But in addition to this, all of our students have the opportunity to work in the Bistro, Food Hall, events and catering. The pressures and timing of a bustling kitchen or large-scale banquet are impossible to duplicate in a lab environment, which is why we consider this real-world experience to be essential in preparing them for the workforce. NICHE features an open to the public Food Hall as well as several rentable spaces throughout the facility including Henry's Place, the Event Center and Rooftop Terrace at NICHE.

The Envision Bistro is CLOSED for Winter Break and the new year menu creation.

The Chefs and WSU Tech Culinary Arts students are working hard to prepare a wonderful new menu! Because of this, The Envision Bistro will have extended closure hours over Winter Break. We can't wait to welcome you back in the new year with a new menu! The Envision Bistro will re-open on January 15th with regular hours of 11am-2pm. Because of this unique student involved concept, The Food Hall at NICHE will follow the WSU Tech operating hours.

The Food Hall eateries at NICHE will have varying schedules. Please visit NICHEks.com for more information on closure dates.

Meet the student: Shanelle Stowell: My name is Shanelle and for my student dish I wanted to recreate and elevate the strawberry cake that my grandma always made for birthdays. It’s a little different than the typical strawberry cake due to the strawberry and infused ganache in the middle topped with a delicious Lavendar Italian meringue buttercream. This dish is near and dear to my heart in relation to my family and my career path as a pastry chef.
