Jenn Miller appriciation post! I (Nick) wanted to spend a few moments to brag on Jenn. She does SO. MUCH. WORK. behind the scenes for our business. She's very maticulous and gets invested easily. Becuase of this, she selects all of the music that we use in our films. She learns about the couple, watches and observes on the wedding day and gets a great feel for who they are and what makes them tick. She spents hours looking for the perfect song for each couple. Jenn is the creative one and has a great eye for what we should include in our films. She'll often make small suggestions that have a HUGE impact in our work. I can't tell you how many times I have skipped over moments from a wedding day because the shot was 'a little shakey' or 'out of focus' - but Jenn really fights for our couples and constantly reminds me what is important in our films. The real moments. Jenn gets color. She has an eye for it. She 100% understands how to do it (I am pathetic when it comes to color). The final look of our films is the way it is because of her. When we hired @threefifteendesign to redo our website, Jenn spent months writing copy, rewriting copy and working alongside Ravyn so that our site is a great representation of who we are. Jenn would spends hours each day making tweeks to various parts of the pages so that our voice would really shine. She reminds me of what is important in our business (and in life). If it weren't for her, Wild Oak Films would be amazingly disorganized. She encourages me to work on the tasks that are the most important. She has gotten me into the habit of making lists so I know what I need to do next. Jenn is the backbone of everything we do in our business. I am SO grateful for her. She's the best business partner and wife (I didn't even get into all the stuff she does around the house... spoilers... it's a lot!) I say all of this to say, Thank You. Thank you Jenn for being you and doing what you do for our business and our family. #wildoakf

MARRIAGE ADVICE #2: LEARN EACH OTHER'S LOVE LANGUAGE Did you know that everyone has a love language? Here they are: Words of Affrimation Gifts Acts of Service Quality Time Physical Touch A love language is the way you express and receive love in a relationship. Discovering each other's love language was an eye opening tool in our marriage. What we discovered is that we show and express love in different ways and have different love languages. Most people express love in their own love language, but that doesn’t mean that your partner receives your love language as love. Now that I (Jenn) understand Nick’s love language is touch and words of affirmation (even though those love languages don’t come naturally to me) they are the ways I practice showing him love. Being loved in the way that you understand and appreciate is important! So, it’s in both of your best interests to learn how to speak each other’s love language. If you want to take this a step further, learning each others Enneagram type is extremely helpful too! The more we thought about this quote the more we realized that we were ‘hoping’ instead of having a strategy to accomplish our goals. Hope for a better marriage. Hope to be a better parent. Hope to get out of debt. Hope to get in shape. These are all great things to hope and desire, but without an action plan they’re pretty hopeless. Have a strategy. How can you improve your marriage/relationships? How can you be a better parent? What steps can you take to get out of debt? Do you have an action plan to get into shape?
