Normally, I would have stuffed myself with chili at the downtown chili cookoff, but I decided to skip it this year. I did find a good alternative though, the Barrio Fiesta was going on at Sedgwick County Park today. It was a celebration of Filipino culture, and they had lots of food available to purchase. One of the vendors was a long lost favorite of mine, The Kamayan Truck. It’s been five years since the last time they were open, I didn’t think I’d ever have their wings and Asian tacos again. I was so happy to place my order. The sweet, sour, and spicy flavors are off the charts. The Asian tacos were just as delicious as I remember them, and I loved the wings with the tasty sauce. They also had a papaya salad that was spicy HOT!!! Whatever chiles they used lit me up, but it was so flavorful at the same time. Hopefully we see more of The Kamayan Truck.
