No weight changes once registration closes on February 16, 2023. Flat weight only. Proper head gear/nets and mouth guards for braces are mandatory Double Elimination – NO WALK INS
AGE-EFFECTIVE: December 31, 2022(Your age before January 1, 2023)
GRADE-EFFECTIVE: 2022/2023 School year grades 7th, 8th and 9th. No high school Varsity or JV experience. Must be eligible to wrestle Jr. High according to P.I.A.A. eligibility rules.

RULES: ONLY PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS FROM THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES MAY ENTER: COLUMBIA (Not including Berwick School District), LYCOMING, MONTOUR, NORTHUMBERLAND, SNYDER, SULLIVAN, TIOGA and UNION
All entrants must be willing to represent Area X at the State Finals
State Qualifiers Uniform must be purchased for $75.
PJW rules and Area X rules as interpreted by Area Chairman.
Wrestlers must enter their actual age group and weight class.
No Seeding. Tournament will be a random draw!
ENTRY INFO: Entry fee-$35+ $2.50 processing.
MUST REGISTER BY February 16, 2023.
ADMISSION: $10.00 Adults including coaches and $5.00 Students.
Hot food and drinks available. No outside food please
No parking in the Loop. Everyone must park in the parking lot in a parking space. Violators will be towed at owners expense. This is for both weigh ins and the tournament

The top 4 wrestlers at the Boy’s Area X Tournament advance to the PJW Jr. High State Championships at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown on March 3, 4 & 5, 2023. Clarification concerning Jr. High eligibility rules can be found at http://www.piaa.org/schools/eligibility/default.aspx
The top 3 wrestlers at each weight at the Boy’s Youth Area X tournament advance to the PJW Youth State Championships at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA on March 25 & 26, 2023.
Girls who are Jr. High eligible may only wrestle in the Girls Jr. High Division, with the following exceptions: 1. Girls exceeding the maximum weight in the Jr. High division will be permitted to enter the Jr. High Boys division and must enter the appropriate Boy’s Section Tournament. 2. Girls who are 13 and in 6th grade will be permitted to enter in the Jr. High division. 3. Girls who are 11-12, and Jr. High eligible, may wrestle in the Jr. High or the 11-12 Youth division, but not both. The top 2 place winners at each weight class will advance to the PJW Jr. High State Tournament, which will be held at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, PA on March 3, 4 & 5, 2023.
Girls who are 12 & under, and not Jr. High eligible, may only wrestle in the Girls Youth Division. (Girls exceeding the maximum weight in the 11-12 age group will be permitted to enter the 11-12 Boys division and must register for the appropriate Boy’s Section Tournament). Girls who are 13 and not Jr. High eligible will be permitted to enter in the Jr. High Girls division. The top two place winners at each weight class will advance to the PJW Youth State Tournament, which will be held at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA on March 25 & 26, 2023.
TOURNAMENT RULES: 1. Entry fee covers entry requirements and insurance. Fee is $35.00
2. A wrestler's age group classification is determined by his/her age on December 31, 2022. EXAMPLE: A wrestler’s 11th birthday is 1/1/2023. That wrestler competes in the 10 & Under division.
3. PIAA rules will govern all matches, except as modified by PJW. Headgear is required in all PJW Tournaments
4. All Youth Division championship bouts will consist of three periods of 2 - 1 - 1, overtime 1 - :30 if needed…. Jr. High championship bouts will consist of three periods of 1:30 each and the Jr. High overtime rules will apply.
5. The PIAA shoelace rule will be enforced. Please be prepared to secure or tape shoelaces.
6. The hair rule for the PJW will be enforced as defined in the National Federation Rules Book and adopted by the PIAA.
7. Participants must weigh in at the weight class they have entered. Entrants not making weight will be scratched.
8. A wrestler may not wrestle outside his/her age group and may enter in only one weight class . However, a wrestler exceeding the limit for the last weight class in the 8&U and 9-10 age groups may enter the appropriate weight class in the next higher age group. All participants in the Junior High division must be eligible to compete for a Junior High team under PIAA rules for the current year. However, a wrestler who is not eligible for the 11-12 age group, and not yet enrolled in Junior High (7th grade level), may enter the Junior High division.
9. Copies of birth certificates will be required of all Area finalists at the Area Tournament, and for all wrestlers competing in the State Championship Tournament.
10.The source of rules governing this tournament will be the PIAA Rules Book, the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Rules Booklet, and the Area Rules that apply to the operation of the qualifying tournament.
11.Only fulltime residents of Pennsylvania may enter the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling tournaments.
12.Each entrant/guardian must complete and sign the Release and Waiver of Liability Agreement Participant Code of Conduct that is part of the PJW Entry Form. Contestants are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off the mat. Unsportsmanlike conduct can result in deduction of match points, disqualification from the tournament, and/or removal from the premises. PJW disciplinary action may follow. Contestants are expected to refrain from damaging or defacing any part of the host buildings or grounds. Such action will result in eviction from the premises and/or prosecution. PJWC disciplinary action may follow. Contestants are representing PJW while staying in the host community; therefore, any misbehavior in the host community may result in prosecution and subsequent PJWC disciplinary action. PJW, following the established Due Process, may vote to withdraw honors earned, and/or suspend the contestant from future PJW participation.
