Saturday, June 1st started off as any other work day. I spent the morning prepping everything we needed for the proposal later that night. I picked up the 50 white roses, loaded the arch in the van, and did the chalkboard. There was a little extra excitement as this was a proposal set up for one of Brandon’s good friends. Brandon was excited, too. It was clear he wanted everything to go seamlessly for his friend. We were a little late getting out the door and had a long trip to Wildwood ahead of us. This meant that we wouldn’t have as much time as we normally would to set up.
Upon arrival, I met up with the photographer and our good friend and showed her the exact spot we would be setting up. Once there, I went into full work mode - carrying everything to the beach while Brandon parked the car. Setting up all 50 of the roses in the sand (which is not as easy as it sounds), preparing the neon sign and arch, positioning the chalkboard all while Brandon set up the tripod to get the whole proposal on video.
Now it’s just about go-time and I’m finishing up the last few touches that need to be done to make sure everything will be just right. I turned towards the beach entrance when much to my surprise I spotted Brandon’s dad. I started to wave to say hello, but the confusion set in as I realized there was no reason for Brandon’s dad to be here. That’s when I suddenly realized the mix of people that was approaching - both Brandon’s whole family and my own.
And that’s when I realized I had been bamboozled. All of this was actually for me this entire time. Brandon took my hand and walked me up the pathway of roses and asked me to marry him and I of course said yes. The best part is we were surrounded by our families for it.
So what started off as just normal day turned into one of the best days of my life. I still feel like I’m on cloud 9 and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us. And now I’m so happy I get to share the good news with all of you!
