Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how The Wilmington Florist came to be, and I realized I’ve never really shared much of the back story. So here’s a little behind-the-scenes of how I got here!

My floral career started in high school when I landed a job with a company specializing in large-scale weddings. I spent 4–5 years there processing flowers, loading vans, cleaning supplies, and assisting with setups. At the time I wished I was designing more. Looking back now, I realize that mastering the prep/grunt work was invaluable.

After college, I worked in farming, garden design, and at a florist/flower farm, where I learned about growing flowers, running a flower shop, and executing weddings on a smaller scale. After four years, I started The Wilmington Florist out of a private studio space, focusing on weddings and events rather than a traditional shop model. I also offer arrangements for local delivery but operate with a designer’s choice method to allow creativity and prioritize seasonal blooms. 🌸💕

Building a business that feels right for me has been so rewarding. Wilmington has truly incredible wedding venues, and I’m grateful to work in these beautiful spaces, collaborate so many amazing couples, and help make their wedding days special.

I’m endlessly grateful for you all and the support I’ve received from my community. I am 100% in loveee with floral design and sometimes can’t believe I’m really doing this! The second photo of me delivering a bridal bouquet says it all 😂💕. TWF just turned two years old in November, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store. While I always love classic whites, flower-forward designs bring even more of a luxe and sophisticated feel, and Marissa and Michael’s gorgeous wedding at Hotel DuPont was no exception. I absolutely loved the modern, stacked rose look she chose for her bridesmaids—perfectly chic and elegant. Such a dream to be a part of their special day 🤍

Here is your sign to have fun with your wedding florals & vision! I freakin adored Tara’s vision for her wedding. Where to even start?? The single stem minimalist bud vases, the maximalist art-centric table centerpieces, the mono-bloom bridesmaid bouquets, the bright & bold color palette packed full of the last seasonal blooms and so many other gorgeous & fun details made this wedding a favorite. Have a wedding in 2025/2026? Repurposing florals is a fantastic way to create impact throughout your wedding day. Here is a perfect example of a gorgeous ceremony being repurposed to create a lush & beautiful sweetheart table moment for the reception. When designing, I love to prioritize floral pieces that can be easily moved to allow the couple to enjoy them for the entirety of their wedding night. Alyssa and Nolan’s light blue and white palette could not have been more fitting for their stunning waterfront wedding. The touch of pink roses was a beautiful tribute to her grandmother, making their florals even more special. She had told me about her custom veil (to be a surprise the day of the wedding!) and I was able to use her veil as inspiration for the florals, and make sure they complimented each other perfectly. Loved how it all came together! & a huge thanks to for capturing their day so beautifully!

So. Much. LOVE 💕 I teared up while looking through their gallery. When Sienna and I first spoke about her vision, I knew I wanted to do her florals. Combining colorful florals, thrifted porcelain tea pot centerpieces, and free creative reign— it was a perfect recipe for a beautiful garden party wedding. Romantic & whimsy spring pastels w/ a hint of bold of color. I’ll say it and say it again… I LOVE spring. The peonies in the garden popped open today, and I paired them with some gorgeous local anemones I got from yesterday. Always feeling inspired this time of year 🌸🌸🌸

Simplistic monobloom & momochromatic arranging to give each of these early spring blooms a moment in the spotlight. For the first time ever, I’m crushing big time on yellow. Imagining a wedding with long table scapes of all different yellow spring blooms… swoooon. hope you’re all feeling that seasonal inspiration 💫

A flower-forward bridal bouquet of peach, pink, white and the tiniest hint of blue. The next few months are very busy with lots of late summer & fall weddings, and I’m so excited to be in full on creative mode again. For now, this one is just for fun and to create for the sake of creating with what I have before everything picks up. Thanks for your support as always!

This is secretly just a first sunflower of the year appreciation post lol- but happy to have the first of summer blooms to incorporate in designs. This picked handful almost looks like a wild bridal bouquet without even designing it. It is so satisfying planting seeds and watching them grow. This is your sign to plant some flower seeds 🌸🌼🌸
