SPECIAL MUSIC for CHRIST THE KING SUNDAY! This coming Sunday, November 23, at the 10:00 am Holy Eucharist Service, the Trinity Choir will be joined by a brass quartet to celebrate Christ The King Sunday! In addition to adding color and brilliance to the prelude, postlude and hymns that morning, the brass will accompany the choir on their anthems of majestic praise. We hope you can join us in worship that day to lift your voice to celebrate the end of the church year and CHRIST THE KING!

PACKED and super enthusiastic crowd for yesterday's Swing Band Concert at Trinity!! The band, Josh Lee & The Extended Family, was HOT! Such incredible jazz phenoms! In addition, the vocalist was off-the-charts and the dancers were SO entertaining. The joint was jumpin' for two solid hours! Not only was the big dance floor full for the pre-concert dance lessons, but we had people dancin' and boppin' in the aisles. You could tell that the crowd walked in the door excited to hear great music, dance, and have a lot of FUN will doing it! These cats delivered in a BIG way! A fabulous opening concert for THE ARTS AT TRINITY'S 2025-2026 season.

Josh Lee and the Extended Family, a 15-piece Philadelphia-based ensemble that authentically celebrates the music and dance of the swing era, will open The Arts At Trinity's 2025-2026 Concert Season with a FREE performance entitled “Swing Sounds, Swing Moves” at 4:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 2 in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 North Adams St., at Delaware Avenue, in Wilmington. NO advance tickets required!

Featuring a jazz vocalist and two swing dancers, the performance will be preceded by FREE Swing Dance Lessons at 3:15 pm. with two professional swing dancers.

Composed of some of Philadelphia’s hottest jazz musicians, Josh Lee and the Extended Family continues the 100-year tradition of Big Band music, but with a contemporary twist. Band leader Josh Lee is a Grammy Award-winning saxophonist, composer and arranger, a faculty member at Temple and Villanova universities, and a member of the world-renowned Count Basie Orchestra. The Extended Family plays regularly around the East Coast with appearances at the International Lindy Hop Championships (Harlem), the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), Temple University, the 2023 MAD Jazz Festival (Virginia) and Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center in New York City.

A selection of seasonal treats and hot/cold drinks will be served before and after the concert.

THIS SUNDAY! Grammy nominated artist performs at Trinity!

Grammy nominated Saxophonist, bandleader, and Managing and Co-Artistic Director of Jazz Lives Philadelphia, Joshua Lee is fully dedicated to the advancement of the Philadelphia jazz community. Joshua graduated from Temple University in 2016 and 2019 with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Jazz Performance. He has had the fortune of mentorship from musicians like Dick Oatts,
Terell Stafford, Tim Warfield, Barry Harris, Jason Marshall and Gary Smulyan on both the Philadelphia and New York scenes.
As a result, Joshua joined the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra in June of 2018 and performs with them around the world while also serving as a regular substitute with groups like the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Sun Ra Arkestra, the Mingus Big Band, Delfeayo Marsalis’ Uptown Jazz Orchestra, and Terell Stafford’s Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia. He is also a member of Abdullah Ibrahim and Ekaya, Eyal Vilner Jazz Orchestra and the cast of Sw!ng Out, Chelsea Reed and the Fairweather Nine, and Danny Jonokuchi and the Revisionists.Joshua joined the Jazz Faculty at Temple University in the fall of 2019, was awarded as one of Temple University’s 30 Under 30 in 2020. He leads his own bands, including The Extended Family, that is dedicated to performing the swing era music
of Count Basie, Jimmie Lunceford, Fletcher Henderson and more. Joshua is a P. Mauriat artist and plays on the 302UL Baritone Saxophone.

Joshua Lee & The Extended Family comes to Trinity!

Joshua Lee is the founder and Artistic Director of Joshua Lee & Family and Joshua Lee & the Extended Family. He is also a composer, arranger and Managing and Co-Artistic Director of Jazz Lives Philadelphia. A jazz saxophonist, Joshua is fully dedicated to the advancement of the Philadelphia jazz community. He graduated from Temple University in 2016 with a degree in Jazz Performance and is currently working on a Masters in Jazz Performance . Joshua brings performance experience gained in the trenches of the Philly scene that has been fostered by mentors like Terell Stafford, Tim Warfield, Dick Oatts and Gary Smulyan. Joshua feels a strong calling in making positive changes to the arts in Philadelphia and extending the rich traditions of jazz to the next generations, a vision that can be fulfilled through Jazz Lives Philadelphia. Joshua joined the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra in June of 2018 and performs with them around the world. He also is a regular sub with groups like the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra the Mingus Bigband and Terell Stafford’s Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia.

Come hear Joshua and his swing band in action this Sunday at 4:00 pm in a FREE concert at Trinity. The concert will be preceded by free Swing Dance Lessons at 3:15 pm.

JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY!! Josh Lee & The Extended Family!

If you love classic SWING BAND music and dancing, please come out to Trinity for a FREE concert by JOSH LEE & The Extended Family, a hot 15-piece Swing Band from Philadelphia on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 4:00 pm. They will be joined by a jazz vocalist and two swing dancers.

The concert will be preceded by FREE swing dance lessons at 3:15 pm.

Parking is FREE and NO TICKETS are required. Complimentary food and drink will be provided before and after the performance.

The Arts at Trinity will continue its 2025 concert season on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m., with an appearance by Josh Lee and the Extended Family, a 15-piece Philadelphia-based ensemble that authentically celebrates the music and dance of the swing era.

“Swing Sounds, Swing Moves” will take place in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 N. Adams St., at Delaware Avenue, in Wilmington. Admission is free.

Composed of some of Philadelphia’s hottest jazz musicians, Josh Lee and the Extended Family continues the 100-year tradition of Big Band music, but with a contemporary twist. Band leader Josh Lee is a Grammy Award-winning saxophonist, composer and arranger, a faculty member at Temple and Villanova universities, and a member of the world-renowned Count Basie Orchestra.
