Join us this coming SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, at our 10:00 am Service of Worship, when Trinity Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE will celebrate the role that choral music plays in our weekly worship services. The Trinity Choir will be joined by two guest vocalists from Washington, DC and professional instrumentalists on violin, flute, trumpet, drums, cymbals, organ and piano as they present an eclectic mix of joyful and inspiring choral works, including:
• “Baba Yetu,” a choral setting of “The Lord’s Prayer,” in Swahili, by Chinese American composer Christopher Tin, that blends the traditional African “call-and-response” choral form with European harmonies and western symphonic structure.
• A peaceful, soothing choral setting of the Swedish hymn “Children Of The Heavenly Father” that pays homage to the 325th Anniversary of our beloved Old Swedes Church this year.
• A high-energy gospel work, “He Never Failed Me Yet” by Robert Ray, that is set for piano, drums, cymbals, tambourine and brass and is full of a toe-tapping, exuberant joy.
• An new anthem, “Lord, We Bring Our Gift Of Music,” based on a text by Alfred Bayley that is a prayer thanking God for the gift of music. It concludes with congregation joining the choir in singing a new text to the traditional "Hyfrydol" tune.
Help us spread the word and invite your friends, neighbors and family to join us this Sunday morning for our 10:00 am Service of Worship. Trinity is located at 1108 North Adams Street in Wilmington, DE. Plenty of free parking in the lot next to the church.
As Psalm 150 implores all of us …
“Praise Him with the tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flutes! Praise Him with a clash of cymbals; praise Him with loud clanging cymbals! Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!”
COME CELEBRATE GOD’S GIFT OF MUSIC!
