I think my favorite thing to capture about a family is the candid moments. Not the formal poses but when a dad tosses his baby girl in the air and she squeals with glee or when a husband steals a glance at his wife and the mother of his children in such a way that describes his love for her in a way that words never will.

LOVE weddings! My favorite moments are the ones that hardly anyone sees. The looks between husband and wife. The face of the groom as his bride walks down the aisle. The bridesmaids as the bride puts on her dress. The parents faces as they give their little girl away. Oh and the first look. Can't forget the first look.

Remember the butterfly feelings at the beginning of your love story? The can’t-keep-your-hands-off-each-other kind of feels? Yeah, these two still have it after 14 years of marriage. You don’t have to spend much time with them before you realize that they’re still giddy teenagers in love. They’ve walked through the kind of fires, struggle, and grief that many of us can only imagine and have come out refined like precious metal.
Alex and Barbara, capturing your deep and swoony love was one of my photography career highlights. Your love is inspiring and motivating us to press in to our marriages because it’s worth the fight.
And now I’m grinnin’ like a fool over the cuteness of this photo and the fact that it’s almost the weekend! Do you have any weekend plans?

Have I mentioned how much fun we have at sessions? Some of the best compliments I hear from clients is that it didn’t FEEL like a photoshoot. Not stiff, awkward or overly posed. I try to create space for authentic moments and memories to be captured and for it to be an experience your family enjoys...even the dads 😏.

I’ve known these girls since the oldest were 4 and 3. What beautiful young ladies they are all growing up to be!
Outfit tip: mix and match tones of a similar color to create beautiful dimension and contrast among family members. When in doubt, pair a pop of color (like yellow, pink, red etc) with a neutral (white, khaki, denim) and mix in a few patterns for an easy but great combination!
