Thank you to everyone who came down for our very first Halloween Festival & Market! It was a beautiful, fun, windy day at the ELMM. We already have wheels turning to make next year's event even better and cannot wait to watch this festival grow and change for years to come!

Congratulations to our 50/50 winner, Tallen! A big thank you to all of the vendors who hunkered down on a windy day, Wi******er Girl Scout Troop 58611 for the fun Carnival, A Company of Witches for their performances, Dana's Container Service for their pumpkin delivery services, the ELMM Events Committee for their tireless work, and everyone who made today possible. We are just days away from the first ever Halloween Festival & Market on 10/26! We have 40 vendors who will be setting up in our back fields for the afternoon/evening, selling all kinds of amazing crafts, goodies, food items, and more!
Check out our FREE pumpkin carving, sponsored by C&S Wholesale Grocers, evening bonfire, Zombie Head Free Throw competition, Pumpkin Checkers & Chess, and live performances and photos with A Company of Witches! Step inside the ELMM Hall for fun carnival games, open bowling, and a spooky photobooth.

It is Saturday after all. -10:00am: Head over to Winchester Farmer's Market on Main and shop all kinds of local food items, produce, crafts, handmade items, and more. -11:30am: Wander over to the ELMM for Murphy Day! to enjoy a free BBQ lunch, foam party, water fun, and celebration! -2:00pm: Drive over to The Outlaw Brewing Company to celebrate Rick's birthday -4:00pm: Last stop of the day is Monadnock Speedway Chamber Night Out, where you can be a VIP for the night with the Greater Monadnock Collaborative. Pre-registration is required for this one, so don't delay! Can you imagine a better day in Winchester? We can't wait to see everyone enjoying Saturday with family, friends, and neighbors!

2023 was an incredible year at the ELMM! We had so much fun bringing programming, events, and recreation to Winchester. We cannot thank our residents and community enough for the continued support we receive each year; we could not do this without you! We compiled some of our favorite days into this 2023 video scrapbook, though we couldn't possibly fit all of the memories into one post! We are so excited for the year to come! We have some exciting events, programs, improvements, and announcements to come, and we cannot wait to see you soon!

The HISTORY of the ELMMCC

80 YEARS OF COMMUNITY IN WI******ER, NH Governor Francis Parnell Murphy's community center in Wi******er, New Hampshire lives on, honoring the sacrifices of his late mother, Ellen Lambert Murphy.

Born in Wi******er in 1877 to a poor Irish family, Francis would walk by the Alexander farm on his way to school from their rocky farm on Manning Hill Road and dream of owning it one day. 60 years later, he purchased the 29 acre farm and invested almost half a million dollars of today's money to transform the 11-room house and barn into a community center as a gift to the people of Wi******er. A self-made millionaire, found of WMUR radio and tv, and co-founder of the Thom McAn shoe company, then Governor Murphy envisioned the E.L.M.M.C.C. as a place for the community to come together.

From its opening in 1938 until his death, the town would throw a birthday celebration weekend for Governor Murphy called, "Murphy Days" as a way of showing appreciation. In return, each year he would unveil something new: from a bowling alley in 1941 to a rifle range in 1949.

Labor unions met there in the 1920s, and Wi******er women made bandages for the war effort in the 1940s. The boy scouts and girl scouts began meeting in the center in the 1970s and the Wi******er Star had offices there in the 1980s. And many Wi******er residents are part of the bowling leagues that use the center’s vintage four-lane candle pin bowling alley, which was built in the late 1940s.
