Moving Forces Choreographer Spotlight: Ting-Yu Chen
⭐️ ‘Vamos’ (2005)

‘Vamos’ illustrates six individuals of various backgrounds finding themselves in one another’s lives, connected and inseparable as a community and ending with the inevitable fate of everyone moving on in their individual paths.

“Through careful coaching and guidance, I hope to impart a piece of my journey onto theirs, just like my artistic mentors onto mine. By doing so, we not only create a cohesive and authentic performance but also foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the cultural diversity that each dancer artist brings to the creative space.”
– Ting-Yu Chen, faculty choreographer

Moving Forces Choreographer Spotlight: Tiffanie Carson
⭐️ ‘Perpetual Motion’ (2023, New Version Premiere)

“‘Perpetual Motion’ originated as a two-minute work in 2017 that has been revisited, revived and lengthened. I’m pleased to present this contemporary work that features my creations as well as the unique artistic and virtuosic creative contributions of the performers.”
– Tiffanie Carson, faculty choreographer

Moving Forces Choreographer Spotlight: Ting-Yu Chen
⭐️ ‘In Mind’s Eye’ (2004)

‘In Mind’s Eye’ is informed and influenced by Zen-like meditation that moves the dancers’ energy to contrasting extremes. The mind’s eye sees without seeing, rather allowing raw images to fall into the sea of consciousness. Meanings surface seconds or minutes later struggling to catch the trailing tails of vanishing present moment.

"It has been an immensely gratifying experience for me to see the cast embracing my choreographic devices and capturing the essence of my artistic visions as well as bringing forth a fresh perspective and renewed vitality to these dances.”
– Ting-Yu Chen, faculty choreographer
