Dr. Alice Hammel ("87 & '99) visited our campus for a week-long residency November 11-14, 2024. Kelsee (Sweigard) Kimmel ’16 (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre) will return to Broadway as the standby for the role of “Jersey” in the musical “Hell’s Kitchen.” Kimmel will replace current standby Donna Vivino on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Kimmel will be the standby for Jessica Vosk, who will assume the role of “Jersey” on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) annual conference was held in Norfolk, VA November 21-23, 2024. Fifty undergraduate students attended including Reeve Thomas ('27) and Joseph Goduto ('27) who represented SU on the Collegiate Recital program. The Symphony Orchestra performed a fabulous program on Thursday evening under the direction of Dr. Emanuele Andreizzi. Many alumni attended the SU alumni reception after the concert. Shenandoah Conservatory has been educating aspiring performing artists and teachers for more than 140 years. Located in Virginia's Northern Shenandoah Valley, the conservatory is the state's oldest and premier center for performing arts training. It is an incubator for groundbreaking initiatives and home to award-winning students, acclaimed faculty and some of the nation's top degree programs.
